Everyone has their favorite Patton Oswalt bit, whether it’s “failure pile in a sadness bowl” or his story about the drunk fight that gave him hope. This fall, fans will have the chance to add even more material to their mental Patton Rolodexes, as the comedian is set to launch his fourth stand-up special on Netflix. 

We All Scream premieres globally on the service Sept. 20, or just over a month and a half after the premiere of The Sandman, in which Oswalt voices Matthew the Raven. Filmed at the Paramount Theatre in Denver, We All Scream is full of jokes about what happens to our bodies as they age, the struggle of baby boomers in modern America and who Oswalt could have become if he’d just followed the list he made during COVID lockdown. 

In the trailer for the special, Oswalt jokes that everyone should approach aging as if they were Jeff Goldblum in The Fly, taking notes about all their curious bodily emissions in a smart leather notebook. And don’t be worried if you’re over 40 and the mere notion of a falling pine cone scares you — Oswalt says that’s just the kind of skittishness you get when you know your brittle bones could snap at any moment. 

In fact, We All Scream has given Oswalt the means to become something new, whether it was on that list or not: The actor and comedian directed the special, too, marking his first foray into that sphere. He also acts as executive producer, alongside longtime producing partners Dave Rath, Neal Marshall and Marcus Raboy. Stay tuned later this month for more screaming from Patton.
