While one chapter of the Pogues’ story has closed, the next phase of #P4L has only just begun with the hunt for Blackbeard’s gold on the horizon. And the cast of Outer Banks are more than ready for it. In fact, they’re already back on Kildare Island, reportin’ for duty.
Yup, Season 4 of Outer Banks has kicked into high gear and the Twinkie engine is revved up and ready to go. In a clip debuted by star Chase Stokes live during Tudum: A Global Fan Event in Brazil, Kiara (Madison Bailey) and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) are blowing kisses to the camera, while Pope (Jonathan Daviss) is doing what he does best — reading (An Ugly Truth) and throwing up Woogity Woogitys. JJ (Rudy Pankow) is chilling on his surfboard… albeit on land and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) is practicing her knife tricks. And of course John B (Stokes) is there ready to hop in the Twinkie with the gang.

Last we saw of the Pogues in the Season 3 finale,18 months had passed since they found the gold in El Dorado. They were still grappling with the deaths of both Ward (Charles Esten) and Big John (Charles Halford), but were actually taking a moment to process their hard-won victory. After all, “they couldn’t completely lose the third season,” co-creator Shannon Burke previously told Tudum. Added co-creator Josh Pate, “We knew we needed to give them a win, but it ended up being a complicated one. We wanted the audience to feel that they had accomplished something and that it wasn’t all for nothing.”
While we know that Kiara is out saving sea turtles and John B is running a surf shop with Sarah, the creators said that they’re planning on filling in some more of the gaps within that 18-month time frame when Season 4 returns. Most importantly, the Pogues “need to slow down and let all the ripples wash through” of the trauma they’ve endured, said Pate. Stokes agreed, noting how after his dad’s death, John B is “just broken.”
But for Pankow, the main question is: “What do [the Pogues] want now? When you finally get something, what do you want?”
We’ll find out when the treasure hunt continues in Season 4. In the meantime, check out the behind-the-scenes photos above.
