For the first time ever, NFL Thanksgiving football starts a night early and Netflix has set the table with a historic halftime performance from U2.
The 22-time Grammy Award winners and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will celebrate their 50th anniversary together as a band with a special halftime show during the NFL Thanksgiving Eve Game, which sees the Green Bay Packers facing off against the Los Angeles Rams.
“There's a reason U2 has headlined stadiums for decades: they don't just perform, they deliver iconic moments audiences remember forever," said Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix. "We’re thrilled that they'll bring that same magic to the NFL stage on Netflix. It’s going to be an unforgettable night for football fans and Netflix members worldwide.”
On Nov. 25, coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT, with the Packers and Rams kicking off at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT live from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
To watch the Thanksgiving Eve Game, you’ll just need an active Netflix subscription — the game is included in all plans. Once you’re signed in on any supported device, simply open Netflix and select the NFL Thanksgiving Eve Game stream to start watching.
U2’s NFL Thanksgiving Eve performance continues a tradition of marquee halftime entertainment on Netflix’s NFL broadcasts. Netflix’s first Christmas Gameday in 2024 featured international superstar Beyoncé at halftime of the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans game in the four-time Emmy-nominated Beyoncé Bowl.
Last year, Snoop Dogg brought Snoop’s Holiday Halftime Party to the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings Christmas Day game, featuring Grammy Award–winning country superstar Lainey Wilson, renowned vocalists Maestro Andrea Bocelli and Matteo Bocelli, and HUNTR/X, the electrifying voices behind Netflix’s smash hit KPop Demon Hunters.
U2 headlined the Super Bowl XXXVI halftime show at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 3, 2002. This iconic performance was only a few months after the 9/11 attacks, and the band famously paid tribute with a projection of victims’ names, while lead singer Bono revealed an American flag in his jacket lining.
The New England Patriots defeated the St. Louis Rams 20–17, with Adam Vinatieri kicking the game-winning 48-yard field goal as time expired.
Week 1 of the NFL season featured the league’s first-ever regular-season game in Australia on Sept. 10 — between divisional rivals the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers — that aired on Netflix live from the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Netflix will again air two games on Christmas Day, Dec. 25: The Green Bay Packers visit the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, followed by the Buffalo Bills against the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High.
Also new for this NFL season is a Week 18 game on Netflix. That’ll be the final weekend of the regular season, with playoffs on the line.
In addition to the on-field action, Netflix will globally stream the NFL Honors, which showcases the league’s annual awards presentation during the week of the Super Bowl.
Netflix continues to bolster its NFL content, headlined by the return of the documentary series Quarterback. This season features Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders, Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cam Ward of the Tennessee Titans, and Joe Flacco of the Cincinnati Bengals.
The legacy of the Dallas Cowboys is explored through two lenses: the high-stakes auditions in America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and the ’90s dynasty chronicled in America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys.
Rounding out the collection is the Emmy-nominated Elway, highlighting John Elway’s legendary transition from Hall of Fame quarterback to becoming the Denver Broncos’ general manager.
