My Unorthodox Life Season 1 offers up an intimate look at a formerly ultra-Orthodox Jewish family adjusting to secular life in the Big Apple. They navigate the city, business and the fashion world while grappling with the past they left behind.
And Season 2 is no different — but this time, the stakes are higher than ever. Julia Haart, the former ultra-Orthodox housewife turned fashion mogul, has had quite the year. With her role as CEO of top global modeling agency EWG over, along with her marriage, she’s tackling life head-on in the only way she knows how: in lockstep with her children, Batsheva, Miriam, Shlomo and Aron, and her right-hand man, Robert Brotherton.
But that’s not all that Season 2 is serving up. Between Batsheva’s divorce, the fate of Miriam’s relationship with her girlfriend, Aron’s desire to attend yeshiva and Robert’s future at EWG, there’s a lot to unpack.
All nine hour-long episodes of Season 2 will be available on Netflix on Friday, Dec. 2. For now, you can refresh your memory of where we left off by watching Season 1.
Things have shifted pretty drastically for Julia and the Haarts. For one, Julia has been removed as CEO of EWG by her now ex-husband, Silvio Scaglia, and is grappling with a contentious divorce. But she has the support of her four kids, who can almost always be found in the penthouse by her side — sometimes with a masseuse in tow.

Like her mother, Batsheva is also going through a divorce. She’s dabbling in the NYC dating pool and learning what it’s like to be single for the first time since she was 19. Her brother, Shlomo, is also putting himself out there — this time with his sight set on one of his younger sister’s friends. Miriam, unlike her single siblings, is in a committed relationship with Nathalie, a Swedish student whom she met on a dating app. The two are in it for the long haul — with one slight problem: Nathalie’s visa will end when she graduates. Aron, the youngest of Julia’s children, has become more religious and is interested in transferring from his current school to a yeshiva, which worries his mother and siblings, who want him to receive a secular education.
And this season, we see an entirely new side of Robert, COO of Elite, who’s enjoying domestic life with his partner, Ra’ed Saade. But with his career in jeopardy, could this stability topple?
Despite all they’ve been through over the past year, what hasn’t changed is that the Haart crew is steadfastly loyal to Julia and can tackle anything that comes their way together.

After serving as CEO of Elite World Group since 2019, Julia was removed as CEO by Silvio on Feb. 9, 2022, via a company email announcing her replacement. But Julia will stop at nothing to protect the empire she helped build — where, she says, she strived to empower women in the industry and replace the old-guard gatekeepers.

My Unorthodox Life is a docuseries that chronicles the lives of the Haart family. In 2013, Julia fled her ultra-Orthodox community in pursuit of freedom and a secular lifestyle. Soon after, she started a successful shoe line, which she parlayed into becoming the creative director of La Perla. It was there that she met her second husband, Silvio, who brought her on as co-owner and CEO of EWG.
Her three eldest children live nearby in the city, while her youngest son splits time between his father’s home in the ultra-Orthodox community of Monsey, NY, and Julia’s penthouse.
Season 2 of My Unorthodox Life was filmed between Jan. 31 and April 12, 2022. It picks up right when Julia and Silvio announce their divorce and depicts the months during their legal battles over EWG.

Julia filed for divorce in early 2022. After two years of marriage, Julia felt she had to choose between her husband and her children, and she chose her children. Julia’s children were vocal about their negative feelings toward Silvio — who they believe never made an effort to embrace them, which caused increasing tension in the home — and supported their mother in her decision.

After nine years of marriage, Batsheva and Ben (who’s prominently featured in Season 1) announced their divorce in November 2021. The two married when they were 19 years old and transitioned from ultra-Orthodox Judaism in Monsey to modern Orthodox Judaism in New York City.
After realizing they wanted different futures at age 28, they decided to split and did so amicably. Ben wanted to raise a family while continuing to practice modern Orthodox Judaism, while Batsheva wanted a more secular lifestyle.
Absolutely.
