It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Milly Alcock, the star of Supergirl, which audiences got a first, action-packed taste of this week. This take on Superman’s cousin is a few shades darker than the last time we saw her onscreen — in The CW’s Supergirl, which featured Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El for six seasons and is available to watch on Netflix. But Alcock fans will recognize that intensity from her breakout role as young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, which kicked her career into high gear, earning her a Critics Choice nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. The Australian actor got her start in shows like Wonderland, Fighting Season, and Upright. She starred in her first movie, the horror flick The School, before making an appearance in this summer’s Superman alongside David Corenswet. Sirens

Devon DeWitt (Meghann Fahy) has a problem. She’s searching for her sister, Simone (Alcock), so they can care for their ailing father (Bill Camp) together — but Simone doesn’t want to be found. She has a seemingly cushy job working for the enigmatic, manipulative billionaire Michaela Kell (Julianne Moore), who lives with her husband (Kevin Bacon) on a sprawling estate on the fictional island of Port Haven. To get her sister back from Michaela — whom she fears has some sort of psychological hold over Simone — Devon invites herself to the estate and confronts the Kells’ uberwealthy lifestyle. But Michaela’s power runs deeper than either sister could have imagined, and they soon find themselves stuck in her web. This dark comedy by creator Molly Smith Metzler is based on her 2011 play Elemeno Pea and also stars Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Felix Solis (Ozark).

Pine Gap

This thriller follows an ensemble cast of characters who work at the Pine Gap surveillance base located outside Alice Springs, a town smack-dab in the middle of the Central Desert of Australia. The base — a joint Australian and United States venture that supports US intelligence activities and military operations — is real. But the series, created by Greg Haddrick (MDA) and Felicity Packard (Underbelly), follows fictional characters as they track potentially dangerous situations around the world, including a missile launch that brings down a passenger jet. Alcock stars as Marissa Campbell, an Alice Springs local who becomes entangled with an analyst (Mark Leonard Winter) working at the facility. Parker Sawyers (Southside with You), Tess Haubrich (Spiderhead), Jacqueline McKenzie (All Her Fault), and Steve Toussaint (House of the Dragon) also star.
