A dream vacation turns into a nightmare for new mom Beth (Leighton Meester) in the new Netflix thriller The Weekend Away. After her best friend Kate (Christina Wolfe) goes missing after a night of partying in Croatia, Beth’s relationships – and whole reality – are thrown into question. While Meester is a familiar face to viewers, the rest of the cast deserve to be on your radar. Meet the actors whose characters weave the mysterious web behind Kate’s disappearance.

Meester plays Beth, a very by-the-book new mom who travels from England to Croatia to be with her best friend, Kate. Beth really just wants to be with her new baby but is determined to be present with Kate and make sure she’s not being a killjoy. Meester is, of course, known for her tenure as Blair Waldorf in the original run of Gossip Girl. She also starred in the 2011 horror film The Roommate and, most recently, as Angie D'Amato in the ABC series Single Parents. Follow Meester on Twitter and Instagram.

Whereas Beth isn’t really about the party life, Kate is vivacious and always down for a night out. Christina Wolfe plays Kate, Beth’s glamorous best friend who recently went through a rough time and just wants to let go, coaxing Beth into doing the same. And not always in a good way. Wolfe may look familiar if you’re a fan of The CW’s Batwoman, where she plays Julia Pennyworth (you know, Alfred’s daughter?). She also appeared in The Royals as Kathryn Davis.

When traveling alone or even with friends, it’s important to take note of creepy strangers, especially when they’re lurking around the place where you’re staying. Sebastian doesn’t really leave a warm and inviting presence for Beth and Kate, even though he’s the owner of their vacation rental. There’s just something up with him, but, of course, it’s just slight enough to overlook. For now. Sebastian is played by Adrian Pezdirc, a Croatian actor known for You Carry Me and The Diary of Diana B. Follow Pezdirc on Instagram.

The first person Beth really interacts with in Croatia is her friendly cab driver, Zain. When problems arise for Beth, he becomes a far more vital resource. Zain not only knows how to navigate the local area but has some other surprises up his sleeve. Are they good surprises, though? Ziad Bakri, who plays Zain, has appeared in Blind Sun and Screwdriver.

When Beth discovers something might have happened to Kate, she reports it to the police. But in her effort to enlist the authorities, Beth must deal with the very skeptical officer Pavic. Cold and callous doesn’t even begin to describe how Pavic treats Beth and her situation; he asks her what she and Kate wore the night before and trivializes Beth’s account. Pavic is played by Amar Bukvic, a Croatian actor. He most recently appeared as a guard in Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.

Beth’s husband Rob is introduced through FaceTime calls. At first, he seems a thoughtful and doting husband who’s home with the couple’s newborn during Beth’s weekend trip. He tries to calm her at every turn. But when Kate goes missing, he strongly advocates for Beth to return home and forget about the potentially serious implications behind Kate’s disappearance. And that’s when even Rob starts to become a suspect himself. Luke Norris, who plays Rob,got his start in acting through theater and appeared in The Duchess and the UK series Skins. Norris is best known for his role on the series Poldark as Dwight Enys.
