





Man vs. Bee is a new comedy series starring Rowan Atkinson of Mr. Bean fame. It premieres on June 24. As the title suggests, the series is about a bumbling house sitter who takes on a bumblebee.
Hired to keep an eye on a mansion filled with high-end art while the owners are on vacation, Trevor (Atkinson) discovers the cushy job is far tougher than he thought when a buzzing, annoying bee enters the space. Trevor becomes obsessed with getting rid of his rival, and mayhem ensues.

How long is Man vs. Bee? Man vs. Bee comprises nine 10- to 20-minute episodes (with most on the shorter side), making it very easy for kids to watch.
Is Man vs. Bee violent? Trevor commits many acts of violence against the bee, including trying to trap, smash, poison and burn it. For this reason, the film does come with a violence tag.
At one point, Cupcake, the family dog, also becomes a victim in Trevor’s plot against the bee, which may upset young viewers (more below).

Are there any distressing scenes or themes in Man vs. Bee? (Mild spoilers ahead) Trevor’s obsession with getting rid of the bee becomes maniacal. He tries to poison it and blow it up (where Cupcake the dog becomes collateral damage). The film culminates with Trevor setting the entire house on fire.
Trevor’s divorce and estrangement from his young daughter is a secondary storyline that parents may have to explain to younger viewers.
Are there any suggestive or sexual scenes in Man vs. Bee? There are no suggestive or sexual scenes in Man vs. Bee. At one point, the bee flies into Trevor’s pants and he squirms and gyrates uncomfortably (as one does).
Is there nudity and profanity in Man vs. Bee? There is no explicit nudity or profanity in the series.

Is Man vs. Bee appropriate for kids? Younger children may be frightened by Trevor’s obsession with the bee and some of the destruction (particularly the arson). They may also find scenes where Cupcake the dog becomes incapacitated and injured upsetting. (But don’t worry, he’s shown to be fine in the end).
However, overall, Man vs. Bee is a film most families can enjoy together. Children ages 7 to 9 will understand the humor that drives the destruction but also the consequences behind it, and there are plenty of comedic moments within the series for kids of all ages to giggle at.
