Assane (Omar Sy) returns for Lupin Part 3 on Oct. 5, and while the trailer reveals that France’s gentleman thief may be tough to recognize in disguise, there’s some actual brand-new faces coming aboard as well. Before the schemes are cooked up and the madness unfolds, let’s take a look at everyone you’ll be seeing in Lupin’s upcoming installment. From Assane’s family and friends to his foes, you’ll need to keep track of who’s who — and who can be trusted.

Assane was only 14 years old when his father, Babakar (Fargass Assandé), died in prison in an apparent suicide, after being framed for stealing Marie Antoinette’s necklace from his employer’s safe. Raised in an orphanage, Assane found refuge in reading Maurice Leblanc’s novels about the adventures of gentleman thief Arsène Lupin, leading him to become a highly skilled thief and con artist with a keen sense of justice.

Assane’s ex still cares for him, but his involvement in sketchy activity remains a source of conflict in their complicated relationship. It makes her feel the need to be extra protective of their son.

Assane and Claire’s son is a bookish type who loves the same Arsène Lupin books his father once did. Raoul is sometimes caught up in the tension between his parents.

Benjamin is Assane’s accomplice, right-hand man, and best friend since they met as kids in elementary school. Conveniently for master thief Assane, he works as an antiquarian.

Officer Guédira is persistently on Assane’s heels. The investigator’s deep knowledge of Arsène Lupin novels helps him detect the similarities between Assane and the famous burglar.
