Love Is Blind Habibi: The Pods Are Open in the Arab World
Here’s what you need to know, حبيبي.

Nov. 1, 2024
Longtime Love Is Blind fans have watched singles from the US, UK, Mexico, Brazil, and beyond ask themselves, “Is love really blind?” Now, for the first time, men and women from the Arab world are confronting the same question in Love Is Blind Habibi, the first Netflix unscripted dating series to touch down in the United Arab Emirates.
The experiment remains the same: Singles go on a series of “blind” dates in separate pods with the hope of finding their soulmates. Couples meet face-to-face only after they’re engaged, then spend four weeks testing their relationship back in the real world. On their wedding day, they’ll choose whether the soul connection they fostered in the pods is strong enough to last a lifetime, or if external factors like looks, finances, and family will cause them to walk away from each other forever.
And in true Love Is Blind fashion, the series will continue to dive deep into how people navigate modern romance, especially when it comes to cross-cultural relationships in a region where each country has its own traditional values. Ahead, get the lowdown on the latest chapter of the Love Is Blind global franchise and meet the inaugural cast of Arab singles on a quest to find their life partner.
The pods are officially open. All nine episodes of Love Is Blind Habibi premiered on Oct. 10 and are available to watch now. Keep scrolling for more information about the upcoming reunion.
Who are the Love Is Blind Habibi hosts?
Popular Saudi actors and real-life couple Elham Ali and Khaled Saqer are the hosts of Love Is Blind Habibi. They starred in the Netflix sci-fi series Bashar Shortsin 2018 and got married in 2019. Ali’s acting credits include Bilal the Sixth (2021) and The Cello (2023), and Saqer has appeared in Zero Distance (2020) and Fay’s Palette (2021).
How is Love Is Blind Habibi different from Love Is Blind?
For starters, the long-running dating experiment has been adapted to reflect the many unique traditions of the countries within the Arab region. Viewers will see singles participating in their respective culture’s pre-wedding customs, such as katb al-kitab events and a henna night celebration for the brides-to-be. Since cohabitation before marriage isn’t conventional in many parts of the Arab world, viewers will also get a closer look at couples’ separate home lives and their family’s involvement with the engagement process.
Who’s in the Love Is Blind Habibi cast?
The singles of Love Is Blind Habibi come from all over the Arab region, including Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, and Iraq — many of them are now based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Below, get to know the men and women participating in the dating experiment.

The pod squad will come together for the first time since the weddings for the highly anticipated reunion episode, which launches on Nov. 1. For a sneak peek at the jaw-dropping drama to come, take a look at the trailer below.
Love Is BlindHabibi Reunion Trailer
Who’s still together from Love Is Blind Habibi?
Viewers are in for a few twists and turns when it comes to the journeys of the final couples. Click below to find out which pairs get engaged, break up, or make it down the aisle.
Karma and Ammar
STATUS: NOT TOGETHER
From the get-go, the couple connect over their shared love of music and sense of humor. After a sweet moment where they sing a love song together from their separate pods, they’re the first couple to get engaged. However, Ammar can’t see eye to eye with Karma, especially when it comes to her passion for dance, and the couple call it quits before their wedding day.
“I hoped for a little more respect, or maybe a lesser reaction, especially since I noticed a lot of double standards,” Karma says at the reunion of her experience with Ammar. Ammar responds by saying that his disapproval of her dancing wasn’t a personal attack but, rather, “[what] I’m defending is the ideology of the entire Middle East,” he says. “Our society is against dancing.”
Karma disagrees, and suggests that their breakup indicated a much larger issue than simply dancing, and that sacrificing what she loves would be a suppression of her identity and how she expresses herself. “It was smart for us to go our separate ways,” Karma says.
Hajar and Simo
STATUS: NOT TOGETHER
After the couple have a tense argument and Hajar calmly walks Simo through her apology, Simo comes around and eventually proposes to her. “Simo knew how to reach the broken side of me and made it shine,” Hajar says in a confessional. The “power couple,” as Hajar refers to her and Simo at one point, do make it to their wedding ceremony, but Hajar backs out at the last minute.
At the reunion, Hajar and Simo see each other for the first time since their breakup — and things have not smoothed over in the time since. “I know what I want in life. If you’re not going to give me what I want, and I’m not going to give you what you want, then why waste my time?” Simo says.
Hajar says their relationship was more complex than that, and implies that her sense of humor and personality weren’t a fit with Simo’s. She says that if she were to go back in time to the pods, she’d keep her insecurities and vulnerabilities to herself, “because one day, if problems occur, [your potential partner will] use your mistakes and weaknesses against you.”
Safa and Mohammed
STATUS: STILL TOGETHER
In a fateful coincidence, Safa says Mohammed has a name that’s similar to that of her late father, whom she was close with. Safa soon untangles herself from the triangle she’s in with Karim and accepts Mohammed’s proposal. They not only make it down the aisle, but say yes to a lifetime together.
At the reunion, the couple share that since tying the knot, they’ve traveled, celebrated a honeymoon, moved in together, and are now in the early stages of family planning — Safa jokes that she’d like to have twins. She also mentions that marriage has its challenges and that she has experienced feelings of jealousy, but that “our communication is what’s kept us together.”
“It’s the best experiment I’ve ever done in my life,” Mohammed says of participating in Love Is Blind Habibi.
Asma and Khatab
STATUS: NOT TOGETHER
When it comes to his creative pursuits, Khatab describes his life as “full of rejection.” His luck turns around when the charismatic (and ever ambitious) Asma accepts Khatab for who he is — his passions, personal challenges, and all. After the couple meet for the first time, however, we learn that they’re not moving forward to the next phase of the experiment. But, in a twist, Asma and Khatab get together again at the resort. On their wedding day, Asma is unable to accept, but only because she needs her family’s blessing (she assures Khatab she’s still committed to the relationship).
At the reunion, Asma and Khatab reveal that they continued dating for about two months before breaking up for good. Khatab’s demanding work schedule became unsustainable for maintaining a relationship and the pair “started fighting all the time,” he says. “We figured we were better off as friends.”
Asma says she and Khatab still keep in touch and that what she takes away from the experiment is that physical attraction plays a part in finding a partner “but, over time, what stays with you is love and understanding.”
“I wish her the best of luck. She deserves the best,” Khatab says.
Dounia and Chafic
STATUS: NOT TOGETHER
After only a few dates, Chafic can no longer hide his affection for Dounia. He professes his love by yelling her name from the men’s lounge, causing a visible rift with his other connections. The couple get engaged quickly — but after spending time together in the real world, they decide they aren’t the right fit and break up before their wedding day.
In a twist, however, Chafic and Dounia reveal at the reunion that they have since gotten back together but are not engaged or married … yet. “He was my No.1 from the start,” Dounia says.
As for life after the experiment, Chafic says he’s making space for Dounia and her mother to continue having a close relationship that’s separate from her life with Chafic. The lovebirds are also looking forward to attending Chafic’s sister’s wedding — an event that will gather his entire family — and Chafic hints that the event might be an opportune time to get his own family’s blessing for a potential engagement. “We’ll see from there,” Chafic says.
Noor and Mido
STATUS: NOT TOGETHER
Noor and Mido come together after their respective primary connections get engaged to other people. When Mido says, “This is not a dating place, it’s a marriage place,” Noor is reminded that Mido is ready to commit — for life. Unfortunately, their personalities clash immediately after arriving at the resort, and a massive breakup follows.
At the reunion, Mido says he regrets proposing to Noor in the pods as it became clear in the real world how mismatched they were, especially around the topic of money. “I grew up in a family that spoiled me and gave me everything I wanted,” Noor says. Mido, who had previously accused Noor of not looking for a partner but “an ATM,” apologizes to her at the end of the reunion. She accepts his apology.
