Lena Dunham has signed an exclusive first-look deal with Netflix, and will develop and create serialized projects through her production company Good Thing Going in an exciting new partnership.

Founded by Dunham in 2018 and co-helmed by Michael P. Cohen, Good Thing Going supports artist-led work fueled by voices that are impossible to deny. “My producing partner Michael P. Cohen and I are deeply excited to begin the next phase of Good Thing Going with Netflix as our home, one that supports artists and makes so many of the shows that we love as viewers,” Dunham tells Tudum. “From the first chat with our Netflix team, we have been aligned in the vision to lean into classic genres and serve them up with a twist, always informed by surprising points of view.”

Too Much, a 10-episode series about a New Yorker who moves to London, embodies this kind of bold but poignant storytelling, and demonstrates the potential of this powerful new partnership. “Netflix has been so deeply supportive of the vision, which is to create a romantic comedy that makes us root for love, brings joy but also has the jagged edges of life,” Dunham says. You can find everything you need to know about the long-awaited rom-com series on Tudum.

Over the course of her incomparable genre-spanning career, Dunham’s paved a singular path and cemented herself as a rare multihyphenate. “Lena’s authenticity and singular voice have redefined storytelling for this generation,” says Jinny Howe, vice president of drama series at Netflix. “She’s a creative powerhouse, weaving together complex and nuanced narratives that are as thought-provoking as they are entertaining.”

“We are thrilled to be working across the U.S. and the U.K., and hope to engage with Netflix globally to tell a range of stories, set in new and compelling worlds,” Dunham tells Tudum. As Howe puts it, “We look forward to delighting audiences with more of the deeply relatable stories they love from Lena.”
