In “Redemption,” Episode 8 of Live from the Other Side with Tyler Henry that aired on Nov. 6, clairvoyant medium Tyler Henry hosted a reading with the actor and singer Kristin Chenoweth. Her guests included Shannon Mackay (her assistant), Melody Young (her business manager), Genna Geibelson (Young’s daughter), and Jonathan Hanousek (her hairstylist and old friend).

Tony and Emmy Award–winning star Chenoweth — who also stars in the Netflix Christmas movie Our Little Secret, premiering Nov. 27 — is a longtime fan of Henry. She said, “I actually prayed for him because I saw how much energy and love he puts into the world, and I know what the cost of that is, so I’m really happy to be here.”

Tyler Henry holds up a paper with the words “11/6 Object will have turquoise … beads?” while Kristin covers her mouth in shock.

At the top of the show, Henry zeroed in on two important mother figures from Chenoweth’s life: her late biological mother, who was a “youthful” spirit, and a living mother figure who’s currently dealing with health issues. When he brought up the last two years of her birth mother’s life, Henry told Chenoweth that there’s “a sense of acceptance that comes through … a lot of surprising amount of peace before she even transitions, and I needed you to know that.”

Henry then made a strong connection between the two mother figures, telling Chenoweth that the “mother figure that’s passed is watching over this living mother figure like a hawk” when it comes to her health and well-being.

Even though Chenoweth’s husband wasn’t present at the reading, Henry told her that he received a strong impression coming through from his side of the family as well. Henry highlighted Chenoweth’s partner’s family “wanting to celebrate your union,” and he also acknowledged a “strong military emphasis” that had an intergenerational effect. Turns out, his grandfather was a prisoner of war, but Henry said that “it’s beautiful when this comes through because there’s a sense of healing.”

Later on, Henry brought up references to Chenoweth’s birth mother collecting various crystals or gemstones, to which Chenoweth replied that her mom particularly loved turquoise. “Sorry, did you just say turquoise?” Henry asked. He then pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket with the date and the words “OBJECT WILL HAVE TURQUOISE … BEADS?” — an impression that he’d received before he’d even sat down or met Chenoweth on set.

“You’re blowing my mind,” she told him.

The intense energy didn’t stop there. In a rare move, Henry relayed sensitive information to Mackay, privately, by whispering comforting words in her ear. And in a truly unexpected twist, Henry received impressions from Chenoweth’s makeup artist, Jill Cady, who was backstage. Cady briefly joined the group on the couch because her late “dad’s side of the family hits me,” Henry said. “Please know you’re on the right track. You’re doing everything right,” Henry told Cady.

The emotions ran high throughout the episode, so much so that even Live from the Other Side moderator Amanda Kloots seemed bewildered by the reading. “Tyler, I think this was one of the most mind-blowing episodes that we’ve had,” she said.

Chenoweth expressed gratitude for the experience she was able to share with her closest friends and loved ones. After the show, Chenoweth told Tudum that her expectations for the experience were beyond what she’d even hoped for.

“Everybody thinks about the person they want to come through, and I definitely had mine, my birth mom,” she says. “I definitely wanted that, but I really wanted my friends who were on the couch with me to receive something from the other side. And that happened in abundance.”

Watch Live from the Other Side with Tyler Henry weekly on Tuesdays at 3 p.m. PST / 6 p.m. EST.
