As a teenager growing up in Australia, Georgie Stone has advocated for transgender youth rights for herself and others. At 18, she’s preparing to undergo gender affirmation surgery. The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone follows Georgie’s life and path as an activist and documents the intimate moments with her family before her operation.
Directed by Australian documentarian Maya Newell (Gayby Baby, In My Blood It Runs), The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone takes an observational approach to tell Georgie’s story, blending together home videos, archival footage and a fly-on-the-wall camera style.
The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone will be available on Netflix Sept. 22.
