Ah, Inkwell Isles. Lush meadows and forests, bouncing slime monsters, evil flowers and treacherous carrots. They also happen to be home to Cuphead and his brother Mugman, the stars of The Cuphead Show! Based on the challenging platform video game Cuphead, where players can control either sibling, the show follows the drinkware-based duo as they deal with jerks like the Devil, accidentally gambling away their eternal souls in a dice game.
In the animated adaptation, these siblings call the picturesque lands of Inkwell Isles, dangerous as they may be, their happy home. The impulsive, fast-talking Cuphead and the overly cautious Mugman are always setting off on hilarious misadventures. But how well do you know this beverage-based bunch? Here’s all the tea you need on the cast and characters of the new animated series.

The irresponsible and impulsive Cuphead is our main man (we guess the title kind of gave that away) and Mugman’s older twin brother. His head is marked by a wide-brimmed cup with a red and white straw, and he's rarely without a mischievous grin. Cuphead lives under the watchful eye of Elder Kettle (Joe Hanna) but manages to get into the kind of trouble that involves some extremely seedy people. With that in mind, it shouldn't come as a surprise when Cuphead and Mugman get mixed up with the Devil himself and embark on a colorful, carnival-like adventure. As it turns out, even dishware can have a hard time getting out of a deal with pure evil.

Mugman has a head similar to that of his brother Cuphead, though Mugman’s is shaped more like a mug and features a blue stripe. While he's eager to spend time getting into trouble with his sibling, Mugman is a lot more gullible. He's also more cautious, at least making an effort to keep Cuphead from committing to terrible decisions. The pair complement each other perfectly, and when they manage to tangle with the Devil, it's Mugman who tries to reason their way out of the situation.

Ms. Chalice, a relative newcomer to the Cuphead mythos, is part of Cuphead and Mugman's group. Instead of a cup- or mug-shaped head like the brothers, though, her head is as her name implies: a golden chalice. Formerly haunting the Mausoleum in the Cuphead games, she's taken the form of the fashionable Ms. Chalice, a kind and caring person who loves to help her friends. She'll go out of her way to make sure everyone is happy.

The Devil needs no introduction. He's the ruler of the underground isle of Inkwell Hell and the literal embodiment of evil. Tall, thin and covered in black fur with clawed fingers, he's always sporting a wide grin below striking yellow eyes and protruding horns. He also happens to run a massive casino that features games with terrifying consequences. Cuphead and Mugman know all about that, of course, as they can't help but gamble and make deals with the Devil that they don't want to let him cash in on. Given that the Devil is an absolutely abhorrent being, it’s best not to get involved with him or, in King Dice’s case, work for him.

If the Devil had a right-hand man, it would undoubtedly be King Dice. Not only does he work for the Devil, but he's a shifty fellow who's always working to make Cuphead’s and Mugman's days' worse. With a dice block for a head and a dapper purple suit, he's always sporting a sly grin beneath a greasy pencil mustache. He's extremely sleazy and deceitful, not to mention manipulative. That's probably why he was selected as the manager of the Devil's massive casino. It's difficult to determine whether he or the Devil is worse to deal with, but one thing is clear: If you cross his path, it's best to run the other way.
