A new scandal sheet has just arrived for the ton. We’re just a few weeks away from Season 2 of Bridgerton, which returns March 25 in all its swoon-worthy, royal glory. For fans who just can’t wait, you’re in luck — the full trailer drops today, giving us a sneak peek at all the romance to come.
Like its predecessor, the upcoming season of Bridgerton loosely follows the second novel in Julia Quinn’s series and will bring viewers deeper into the world of Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), the older brother of Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor). “Driven by his duty to uphold the family name, Anthony’s search for a debutante who meets his impossible standards seems ill-fated until Kate (Simone Ashley) and her younger sister Edwina (Charithra Chandran) Sharma arrive from India,” the season’s official synopsis reads. “When Anthony begins to court Edwina, Kate discovers the true nature of his intentions — a true love match is not high on his priority list — and decides to do everything in her power to stop the union. But in doing so, Kate and Anthony’s verbal sparring matches only bring them closer together, complicating matters on both sides.”
The three-minute (!) trailer kicks off with a voiceover from none other than Lady Whistledown herself. “Dearest reader,” she says, “it has been said that competition is an opportunity for us to rise before our greatest of challenges.” From there, we get a look at Anthony’s search for a bride before meeting the Sharma sisters, Edwina and Kate. In addition to seeing new characters, the trailer is filled with plenty of familiar faces, including Daphne, Penelope (Nicola Coughlan), Eloise (Claudia Jessie), and Colin (Luke Newton), and hints at all the romance — and drama — to come. The longing looks from across the ballroom! The (almost) hand grazes! The dancing! Oh, and don’t worry — there are also plenty of corgi moments to be found.
