Ten years ago, in a world where everyone has magic powers and the lands are ruled by an all-powerful Wizard King, several mages (aka Magic Knights) face off in an epic battle: Conrad Leto is attempting to destroy the Clover Kingdom and everyone in it to create a new, more just world. But Julius Novachrono and his fellow Magic Knights oppose his scorched-earth plans. As Conrad musters all the strength he has left, he produces a powerful sword. After knocking out all his opposition, Conrad stands amidst the rubble, satisfied. But it’s not over yet: Julius swiftly seals Conrad away with magic in order to banish him and protect the Clover Kingdom — even though doing so will also remove all access to the Imperial Sword Conrad wielded. It’s a small price to pay, as Julius has just preceded Conrad to become the new Wizard King.
In the present, The Triumph is about to begin. It’s a magic battle that takes place once a decade, in which the winner is all but destined to become the next Wizard King. Yuno, the beloved vice captain of the Golden Dawn squad of Magic Knights, steps into the area just as his adversary, Asta, shows up unannounced. But the moment the battle begins, the arena is shrouded in darkness: Conrad and his fellow banished Wizard Kings have broken Julius’ seal and reentered the Clover Kingdom to create a new world, as Conrad promised 10 years earlier. Will young knights Yuno and Asta be able to defeat them and defend their kingdom?
