Joey Chestnut: I’m Joey Chestnut, world champion competitive eater.

Kobayashi: Today I’m tasting…
Chestnut: Gourmet hot dogs.

Chestnut: This is Foie Gras & Caramelized Onion Hot Dog
[Graphic: Pretzel Bun, Caramelized Sweet Onion Sausage, Pork & Duck Liver Mousse with Port Wine]
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) You can tell that it’s very gourmet.
Chestnut: You can really taste the Foie Gras - that stands out. You can see the spread there?
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) The taste of the foie gras is very strong.
Chestnut: This isn’t like a traditional hot dog. They used a nice pretzel roll.
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) It feels very extravagant that they’ve used so much foie gras here.
Chestnut: In a contest I could probably eat… 35 or 40.
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) Maybe 30.
Chestnut: The roll would definitely slow me down. It’s not what you get at a baseball game - I like it!
[Graphic: Chestnut holds the world record for most hot dogs eaten - 76 in 10 minutes]
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) Wow. This is… wow.
Kobayashi: (in English) This is a Truffle Wagyu Hot Dog.
[Graphic: St. Pierre Brioche Bun, Kobe Beef, Edible Gold Leaf and Preserved Truffles, Kewpie Mayonnaise]
Chestnut: There’s like a truffle sauce here… not bad. Gold leaf. Let’s see…
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) It would have been nice to have the potato chips a little smaller so it’s easier to bite into but I could see that because they’re big, it makes the hot dog look cool.
[Graphic: Kobayashi won Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest six consecutive times from 2001 to 2006.]
Chestnut: It would’ve been a really killer hot dog if it wasn’t for these potato chips. The truffle is really, really strong. It goes well with the beef. It’s actually pretty good sauce on a hot dog.
[Graphic: Joey Chestnut holds 55 competitive eating world records, including 121 Twinkies in 6 minutes.]
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) I can imagine this in 2025 New York Fashion Week, walking the runway.
Chestnut: I’m not against gold leaf, I like shiny stuff.
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) It’s such a cute food. It’s kind of an idol like a pop icon.
Chestnut: Aww, this is the winner. A lobster dog. Dude, it looks like they painted the bun with gold!
[Graphic: Seeded Gourmet Roll, Classic Italian Smoked Pork Sausage, Whole Lobster Tail, Lemon Aioli]
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) The lobster makes this hot dog easier to eat in terms of something that’s very flavorful.
Chestnut: Guys, I don’t know - the lobster’s a little bit fishy.
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) You could eat a lot of this because it sort of softens the taste of the hot dog.
[Graphic: In his rookie appearance at Nathan’s, Kobayashi ate 50 hot dogs in 12 minutes, nearly doubling the previous record.
Chestnut: This one had potential, I don’t know - the flavors just aren’t working together for some reason. I really thought this was gonna be my favorite one.
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) I would like to eat at least forty.
Chestnut: Contests are always easier when the food tastes good.
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) I’d love to compete in a slow eating contest instead.
Director (off camera): On a yacht.
Kobayashi: [Laughs] Yeah!
Kobayashi: This is a Caviar and Crème Fraîche Hot Dog.
[Graphic: St. Pierre Brioche Roll, 100% Grass-Fed Pasture-Rasied Uncured Beef, Premium Sturgeon Caviar, Crème Fraîche]
Chestnut: I’m not a big fan of caviar, guys.
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) This is the simplest one of all.
Chestnut: I kind of like it! I didn’t think I was gonna like it at all. That Crème Fraîche is good! Ohh, these ones go down easy. That was a small hot dog - I could definitely eat like… 50 of these.
Kobayashi: (in Japanese) This one is a very simple and light snack type of hot dog.
