On May 22, 2011, the young residents of Joplin, Missouri, prepared for their high school graduation. Many of them had spent the prior night partying, after Christian fundamentalist Harold Camping’s prediction that May 21, 2011, would mark the end of the world had not come to pass. Less than 24 hours later, though,  the people of Joplin began to believe it: An EF-5 tornado struck their city, leaving devastation in its wake. The documentary The Twister: Caught in the Storm relives the day the tornado touched down and features interviews with those who survived one of Missouri’s most destructive storms.
