In between takes, Essiedu — fully decked out in the groovy costume of his character, Gaap — describes his otherworldly presence, what the production is shooting at the shoe shop that day  and the immense admiration he has for his co-star Anjana Vasan (Nida Huq). As a longtime fan of Black Mirror, Essiedu was more than game to play a part in Charlie Brooker’s enigmatic universe.

“I just found this story to be unique, political, funny and uniquely human,” Essiedu says.
