It’s officially December. Eleven months down! Way to go, everyone. We’re in the final stretch of 2024, and now, with Thanksgiving firmly behind us and the festive season fully upon us, there’s only one thing left to do — and that’s party.

It doesn’t matter if you’re spending this weekend planning or attending or avoiding dinner parties, cookie parties, reunion parties, Sagittarius birthday parties, or any other kind; no matter what, you deserve a good party-season stream. Whether you devote it to a high school house party, some celeb-filled holiday gatherings, or collecting tips for throwing your own big bash is all up to you! Read on for our picks, and party on, dudes.

But first, what’s new on Netflix?

The original Christmas story. Mary, the new coming-of-age epic directed by D.J. Caruso, dramatizes the immaculate conception, birth of Jesus, and flight to Egypt, all from the perspective of Mary (Noa Cohen). Looking for a holiday tale with some more edge? Take on the season with Joe Barton’s new six-episode spy thriller Black Doves, starring Keira Knightley as a spy and Ben Whishaw as an assassin who uncover a deadly conspiracy — all against the backdrop of London at Christmastime. Prefer a real-life story of a wild duo? Chris Smith’s new documentary Biggest Heist Ever recounts how the couple that came to be known as “Bitcoin Bonnie and Clyde” pulled off just that.  

If you have just a night … 

Call in McLovin. There are few movies that capture the anticipation of an epic, life-changing party more effectively than 2007’s Superbad. Greg Mottola’s hilarious and often sweet comedy stars Michael Cera and Jonah Hill as a pair of awkward teenagers who vow to lose their virginity before graduating, and a huge house party presents the perfect opportunity. Christopher Mintz-Plasse made his film debut as the duo’s goofy friend, and Emma Stone made hers playing Hill’s character’s crush. 

If you have a whole day … 

Spend it with the A-list by queuing up a trio of star-studded holiday gatherings. First, the brand-new holiday special A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter lets the “Espresso” singer get festive, performing holiday classics and tracks from her 2023 EP Fruitcake, all with the help of some famous friends. Next, call in the moms with A Bad Moms Christmas, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore’s 2017 holiday comedy sequel in which the trio from the 2016 original (Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn, and Kristen Bell) are joined by their own bad moms (Christine Baranski, Susan Sarandon, and Cheryl Hines) for “the big show.” Finally, close things out with a Christmas party from none other than Sofia Coppola: The filmmaker’s 2015 holiday special A Very Murray Christmas stars Bill Murray as himself, snowed in at New York City’s Carlyle Hotel on Christmas Eve, where he and the other lonely souls he meets (played by Rashida Jones, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny Lewis, and Maya Rudolph, among others) have an impromptu musical celebration — which George Clooney and Miley Cyrus may or may not show up for. 

If you have the entire weekend … 

Make it a three-course celebration. Start with the cooking contests of Crazy Delicious, in which home chefs prepare inventive spreads, with each episode revolving around a different kind of gathering. Chase it down with a beverage: In the 10-episode competition series Drink Masters, a group of expert mixologists all hope to shake and stir their way to a $100k prize, awarded to the most inspired cocktail creations. And finish things off with something for your sweet tooth: School of Chocolate sees eight dessert masters whip up a series of delectable treats, all in pursuit of an irresistible cash prize and a delicious gig teaching a pastry master class. 

Don’t forget, you have one last chance … 

 … to make it an all-Winston weekend. Joe Wright’s 2017 war drama–biopic Darkest Hour, for which Gary Oldman won the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill, leaves in just over a week — which gives you the perfect window to pair it with the brand-new, four-part docuseries Churchill at War
