One of the leads of Vikings: Valhalla will look familiar to some Netflix viewers — and not because he's playing one of the most famous historical figures who ever lived, Leif Eriksson. Australian actor Sam Corlett, who portrays the famed Scandinavian explorer — who some believe was actually the first European to reach North America, long before Christopher Columbus — plays a very memorable role on another Netflix series.
Corlett stars as Caliban, the sexy Prince of Hell, in Part 3 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Literally carved out of clay — this is a supernatural show, remember? — Caliban fights Sabrina for the throne (and flirts a lot on the way). Frequently shirtless, Caliban becomes King of Hell — until the teenage witch herself goes back in time and changes the outcome of events, leaving him stuck eternally in a void.
Much like Sabrina's Caliban, Vikings: Valhalla's Leif Eriksson sports some flowing, highlighted locks — though Leif keeps his hair pulled back with an ancient scrunchie (you'll see). But as Leif, Corlett brings less menacing charm and more reasoned authority to his new role. (Don't worry, though; Leif can get brutal when he needs to.)
Vikings: Valhalla is set in the early 11th century and follows Eriksson, Freydis Eriksdotter, Harald Sigurdsson and the Norman king William the Conqueror as the Vikings and English clash, with the Vikings seeking revenge for their slaughter at the hands of the English.
If you want to see Corlett in action before the new series premieres Feb. 25, please enjoy these photos of him in Sabrina. They’re for research purposes.
