The moneyed residents of Altos de las Cascadas never need venture beyond their mansions for anything. This exclusive enclave, sheltered from the less stable, more desperate world just outside its high-walled perimeter, seemingly governs itself. But when three of its most prominent residents end up dead, the community’s barely concealed secrets come to light. Are they really as safe as they seem?
Directed by Humberto Hinojosa Ozcariz (Road to Mars, Un Papá Pirata), Thursday’s Widows is a mystery that explores Mexico’s stark social hierarchy of the early 2000s. The series stars a massive ensemble cast, including Irene Azuela, Cassandra Ciangherotti, and Sofía Sisniega.

Through the narration of Mavi Guevara, a real estate broker and resident in the upper-class estate of Altos de las Cascadas, we learn of the lives of five families — the Andrades, the Guevaras, the Scaglias, the de la Lunas, and the Maldonados — and the secrets they keep well-hidden, or so they think.
The wives of these families meet every Thursday to gossip, have drinks, and ping-pong passive-aggressive insults at one another. They call themselves the Thursday’s widows. The group name takes on more meaning when three of their husbands end up dead — all found floating face down in a pool. The event shocks residents, who are quick to call it an accident. But soon, as the Thursday’s widows start to investigate, questions arise about how accidental these deaths really were — proving that nothing is as perfect as it seems in Altos de la Cascadas.
