After putting a stop to 1963’s doomsday in Season 2, the surviving members of the Umbrella Academy returned home to the present, convinced they prevented the initial apocalypse and fixed this godforsaken timeline once and for all. But after a brief moment of celebration, they realize things aren’t exactly (OK, not at all) how they left them. Enter the Sparrow Academy in The Umbrella Academy Season 3.
Smart, stylish and about as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns. Navigating challenges, losses and surprises of their own — and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the universe (something they may have caused) — now all they need to do is convince Dad’s new and possibly better family to help put right what their arrival made wrong. Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives? Or is this new world about to reveal more than just a hiccup in the timeline?

Eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves gave the seven exceptional children he adopted numbers to indicate their rank within his superhero team. These Season 3 character posters show the Umbrella Academy facing off against their Sparrow Academy equivalents. Let’s introduce all the characters in this extremely awkward family reunion.

Viktor (Elliot Page) was relegated to No. 7 in the Umbrella Academy after Hargreeves used medication to suppress his incredible ability to convert sound into powerful blasts of energy. After almost destroying the world twice, he’s discovered his true self and his power.

Christopher is a telekinetic cube of unknown origin. He can turn the room freezing cold and induce paralyzing fear. He acts as the Sparrows’ consulted oracle who hands out incredible advice and serves as the family mediator. Trustworthy, loyal and treated by the Sparrows like any other sibling, Christopher is a force to be reckoned with.

Ben (Justin H. Min) was No. 6 in The Umbrella Academy’s original timeline, but he died on a mission in 2006. The superhero team disbanded shortly after his loss. Ben haunted Klaus for 17 years but sacrificed his spectral form to help avert the apocalypse in the Dallas timeline. The damage the Umbrella Academy did to the timeline has produced a very different version of Ben.

Jayme (Cazzie David) is a loner hidden under a hoodie. She doesn’t say much because she doesn’t have to. Jayme has a fear-inducing snarl. Catch a glimpse of it, and you’ll run across the street to avoid what follows. Smart and as sharp as a knife, she spends most of her time hanging with Alphonso, her only friend.

The only member of the Umbrella Academy to still go by their number, Five (Aidan Gallagher) disappeared soon after the team made its first public appearance. He had used his ability to manipulate space-time to travel to a postapocalyptic future, where he remained stranded for decades until he was recruited as a Temps Commission assassin. He disobeyed their orders and attempted to prevent the apocalypse, but the unstable time travel led to him appearing in his teenage body. That doesn’t stop him from spending plenty of time drinking and belittling his siblings.

Sloane (Genesis Rodriguez) is a romantic and a dreamer who feels a higher cosmic calling, leaving her eager to see the world and experience a life beyond her upbringing. But obligations to her family keep Sloane tethered to the Sparrow Academy, as does her fear of crossing the family line. But Sloane has plans — and one day she might just be brave enough to act on them.

Klaus (Robert Sheehan) has the power to see and speak with the dead, and he’s long tried to ignore them by abusing drugs and alcohol, feeding his habit by stealing from his father. Last season revealed that Klaus’ ability is even more powerful than he originally realized: He can physically manifest ghosts to protect him or fight on his behalf.

Years of crime fighting have left Alphonso’s (Jake Epstein) face and body with countless visual reminders of his battles. To compensate, Alphonso is armed with a caustic and biting sense of humor. The only things he likes better than verbally battering anyone foolish enough to get in his face are a good pizza and a six-pack of beer.

Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) has the power to control the thoughts and behaviors of others just by speaking the phrase “I heard a rumor.” Allison used her powers on both her husband, Patrick, and their daughter, Claire; when Patrick found out, he divorced her and took full parental custody. Allison remarried while trapped in 1961 Dallas, where she became a civil rights activist, but left that life behind to return to the present.

Fei (Britne Oldford) sees the world in a special way. She comes across as a misanthrope who would rather be alone than spend even a second with anyone. But truth be told, Fei wishes she had a friend. Most of the time, Fei is the smartest person in the room and willing to work things out. But if you cross her, there’s no looking back, because Fei won’t stop until the job is done.

Diego (David Castañeda) has the ability to manipulate the trajectory of moving objects, which he uses to throw knives with perfect accuracy. He takes his job as a superhero very seriously, becoming a vigilante after the Umbrella Academy disbanded. When the family was trapped in 1963 Dallas, Diego became obsessed with preventing the assassination of JFK. That landed him in a mental institution, where he met and fell in love with Lila, an agent of the Temps Commission who also has extraordinary powers.

This is not the sweet Ben we know and love. This Ben (Justin H. Min) is a Machiavellian tactician, wrapped up in a pretty-boy body with a rumbling inner squid. Vicious, pragmatic and hypervigilant, Ben is determined to gain his status as the leader at all costs.

Luther (Tom Hopper) was already superstrong when Sir Reginald saved his life with a serum that gave him a body like a gorilla, something Luther hides by wearing gloves and long sleeves. Reginald then sent Luther on a lonely and pointless mission to the moon. While he’s not really a great leader, Luther has a big heart.
Marcus — Sparrow Academy

Marcus (Justin Cornwell) is a charming, chiseled colossus. Honest, virtuous and demanding, Marcus keeps the family together. Graceful but lethal, calculated but compassionate, he is as smart as he is strong. Marcus is disciplined, rational and in control. He oozes confidence and leadership without ever having to raise his voice.
