Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s sensational New York Times bestselling novel, the film follows a young journalist’s long-awaited interview with Evelyn Hugo, an aging Hollywood starlet, who pulls back the curtain on her seven marriages. As she tells tales of Hollywood scandals, betrayals, and woe, she unveils shocking truths about her own life and the lives of everyone around her.
Anna Kendrick will direct a script written by Liz Tigelaar (Little Fires Everywhere, Casual), with current revisions by Francesca Sloane (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Atlanta, Fargo). And don’t worry, book readers: Author Jenkins Reid (who also wrote the bestselling novel Daisy Jones & the Six) will executive produce the adaptation.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is produced by Liza Chasin for 3dot Productions, Brad Mendelsohn for Circle Management + Productions (Daisy Jones & The Six), and David Hinojosa (Babygirl, Past Lives).
There’s no word yet as to who will inhabit the roles of Evelyn Hugo, Monique Grant, or the novel’s titular seven husbands.
With Kendrick signing on to direct, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is getting ready to enter production — stay tuned for more.
