Everyone who devoured Young Royals and can’t stop rewatching A Christmas Prince can agree: There’s no rom-com trope with as much romantic, dramatic potential as a royal falling for a commoner. If you’ve already seen A Castle for Christmas and still can’t get enough of the charming princes and the witty, charismatic, everyday writers, stylists and bakers who win their hearts, get ready to return to Netflix’s rom-com universe in The Royal Treatment.
At first, salon owner Izzy (Laura Marano) is psyched to learn she’s snagged a dream gig cutting and styling Prince Thomas’ (Mena Massoud) hair. But she doesn’t expect to immediately clash — and then, ultimately, bond — with the Prince of fictional country Lavania. Aside from the obvious fact that she’s an American hairdresser and he’s a foreign leader, Thomas is engaged to a woman he hardly knows. Still, some pretty serious sparks start flying as Izzy shepherds Prince into normal life. The movie’s trailer, out now, shows the unlikely couple bonding over activities like enjoying food from a street fair, dancing with villagers and running from town cars. (You know... just everyday royal things.)
Chelsie Preston-Crayford and Grace Bentley-Tsibuah co-star as Izzy’s supportive, excitable co-workers and best friends; Cameron Rhodes plays Thomas’ trusty and loyal butler. Rounding out the cast are Phoenix Connolly, Jacque Drew, Jen Van Epps, and Amanda Billing. The Royal Treatment will premiere on Jan. 20, but for a taste of what’s to come, check out the official trailer (aka., Massoud’s winning audition for the role of your next rom-com crush) below.
