‘The Marked Heart’ Is Resuscitated for Season 2

You thought that was the end?

    April 29, 2022

It’s official: The lovelorn heartthrobs of The Marked Heart will be back for a second season. Creator Leonardo Padrón has also signed an exclusive deal with Netflix for more content. “As soon as the series was over, fans were asking for more. I couldn’t have dreamed of a better response. I’m so excited to create another season for viewers,” Padrón told Deadline.

Season 1 takes viewers on a soapy tour of the deadly world of organ trafficking, guided by the story of vengeful widower Simón. As he searches for the people responsible for his wife’s murder, Simón falls in love with Camila, the wife of a wealthy businessman. Neither of them is aware that Camila is also the recipient of Simón’s dead wife’s heart. How’s that for a meet-cute?

The season ends on a tantalizing cliffhanger, as (spoiler alert) Camila fakes her own death and starts fresh in another country, only for her scheming husband, Zacarías, to discover the lie. Will he chase her down? Will Simón, shaken by the truth, follow her abroad and try to win back the heart that was stolen?

For now, Padrón is keeping his lips sealed. “Season 2 was just announced so I don’t know where the story will go just yet,” he said. “I’m taking some time to soak in all this good news before I reunite with these characters in my writer’s room to flesh out some new adventures for them.”

One thing’s for sure: It’ll be steamy. “I love how [the show’s characters] have seduced viewers into wanting more, that’s exactly what they can expect more of next season,” Padrón said. “I’m committed to that.” We’ll hold him to it.
