Can’t get enough of all the sultry drama heating up in Maple Brook, TX? You’re in luck — The Hunting Wives was renewed for Season 3, which means we’re two-stepping our way back into the seductive world of cowboy boots, luxury wigs, and twisty intrigue.
“I’m so excited, the girls are so excited, we just love making this show,” creator and showrunner Rebecca Cutter tells Tudum. “I’m super proud of how the scripts for Season 3 are coming out.” The show’s world continues to get “bigger” and the stakes are “really, really high,” Cutter adds. “I'm so stoked to be heading back to Maple Brook, and I promise that once you've finished Season 2, you'll be desperate to see what happens next. Buckle up, because Season 3 will be even more scandalous and twisted.”
The Hunting Wives, which returns for its second season on Nov. 26, follows Sophie (Brittany Snow), an East Coast transplant in gun-swinging Maple Brook, who falls hard for Margo (Malin Akerman), the charismatic wife of oil tycoon Jed Banks (Dermot Mulroney).
When we reunite with Sophie and Margo in Season 2, the pair is “on the outs,” the longline teases. “But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games, the question arises: Are they the hunters or the hunted?” Several new faces will join the Hunting Wives cast for Season 2, including John Stamos (Palm Royale, You, Big Shot), Kim Matula (Saturday Night, LA to Vegas), Alex Fitzalan (The Wilds, Chevalier), Cam Gigandet (Violent Night, Burlesque), and Dale Dickey (Winter’s Bone, True Blood, Fallout) — but you’ll have to wait to watch to see who might be back for Season 3.
Last time we saw Sophie and Margo at the end of Season 1, plenty of bad blood was spilled. Sophie discovered that Margo had used her gun to secretly murder local teen Abby Jackson (Madison Wolfe). Meanwhile, Sophie killed Margo’s brother Kyle (Michael Aaron Milligan) and then dumped his body in a reservoir. “In Season 1, Sophie is really having a lot of caged anger,” Snow says. “You see the unraveling of a woman who was very caged for a couple of years of her life, tried to be the perfect mother, perfect wife, and was not being true to herself.”
Slipping back into Margo’s skin has been a joy for Akerman, who tells Tudum she loves this character “more than anything.”
“Coming back to her in Season 2, it was actually a lot easier because we had a whole season to figure out who these characters were, move through their backstory, and figure out how they tick,” the actor says. “Getting back into her was so much fun … with my new wig.” (You heard it here first — Margo has some fresh tresses.)
Be sure to (re)watch Hunting Wives Season 1 now to get ready for Season 2 — and Season 3. Let’s go!
