Tick tock, tick tock: It’s almost time. The first volume of Stranger Things Season 4 is out this Friday, May 27. This is the first of two jam-packed volumes, and it features the initial seven episodes of the season; two more episodes will drop when Volume 2 premieres on July 1.
With the return of our favorite Hawkins crew so near, there's only one thing left to do: Get hyped with the final trailer before the world fully turns upside down.
The trailer opens with quite the humble warning: “Don’t try to be heroes. There is no shame in running.” But if we’ve learned anything from three seasons of Stranger Things and Bob Newby (Sean Astin), the superhero himself, it’s that running is never an option.

We glimpse footage of our disparate cast of characters all gearing up for battle, from Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Robin (Maya Hawke) solemnly walking like they’re on a mission, to a cohort of Hopper (David Harbour)’s tossing him a spear as an ominous door opens. To combat what? Well, that’s still TBD.
But that’s child’s play compared to the real battle at hand: the risks and rewards of rolling the dice in Dungeons & Dragons. Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and Erica (Priah Ferguson) huddle with members of the Hellfire Club to debate their chances of success as Dungeon Master Eddie Munson (Joe Quinn) looks on. Their best bet is 20-1, but Dustin reminds his party to “never tell me the odds.”
The trailer also features an eerie look at a red atmosphere with the infamous ticking clock floating by, with both Max (Sadie Sink) and Nancy beholding it at different points. It’s not all terror on the horizon though, as Hawkins High gets amped at a pep rally and Mike, Will (Noah Schnapp) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) grab some skates at the roller rink. “Bitchin’, right?” Eleven asks Mike. “Yeah, yeah. Bitchin’,” he says back.
But in typical Stranger Things fashion, the kids all know that in order to stand a fighting chance against the evils of the Upside Down, they have to somehow band together — even if Season 4 sees them in separate locations for the first time. “We’re a team, friends,” Mike says in the trailer. “Looks like it’s gonna be up to us again.”
