If you’re not ready to say goodbye to Hawkins, you’re in luck — the Stranger Things finale will be an epic, supersized farewell.

The runtime of the series’ long-awaited last chapter has officially been revealed to be a blockbuster 2 hours and 5 minutes, setting the stage for one last, massive journey into the Upside Down.

The Finale will have limited fan screenings in more than 500 theaters across the US and Canada beginning Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. PT — timed to The Finale’s global premiere on Netflix at the same time — and run through Jan. 1, 2026.

Stranger Things 5 kicked off in the fall of 1987, with Hawkins scarred by the opening of the Rifts and our heroes united by a single goal — to find and kill Vecna.

“But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown,” according to the official synopsis. “Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”

A 125-minute finale on New Year’s Eve? Consider your plans upgraded.

The first four episodes of Stranger Things 5 are streaming now on Netflix, followed by three more episodes on Christmas Day and The Finale on New Year’s Eve. Find out when new episodes arrive in your part of the world here. And test your knowledge of Stranger Things with our superfan quiz.
