Everyone knows “Gotta go fast” is Sonic the Hedgehog’s motto and reason for being. But how fast is too fast? In a new clip from the upcoming Sonic Prime animated series, Sonic speeds right on by and sets a pair of his pals spinning. You’re going too fast, Sonic! You almost knocked over Big the Cat and Froggy! Oh, and he’s gone. Unbelievable. 

At least this accident gives us an opportunity to take a peek at the new series’ interpretations of these two venerable Sonic characters. The dynamic duo first appeared in Sonic Adventure in 1998, the series’ first venture into full 3D game-play. Since then, Big has made playable appearances and cameos in dozens of Sonic games, with Froggy frequently tagging along.

Sonic Prime sees Sonic racing through the Green Hill Zone in a desperate attempt to save his friends — and the very multiverse itself. Seems like someone is always having to save the multiverse lately! The multiverse should get its house in order already. The new show comes from WildBrain Studios, the studio behind Netflix’s Carmen Sandiego and Johnny Test series. Sonic Prime is coming soon to Netflix.
