The ‘Seoul Vibe’ Music Video Is a Campy, High-Velocity Joyride

The video for “City+++” by K-pop star Mino, featuring Gaeko, has got fits, fights and extremely fast cars.

    Aug. 31, 2022

Popping late ’80s streetwear, fast cars and an oily-haired villain with a menacing gaze: Seoul Vibe has it all, and so does the new music video that was just released from the soundtrack. “City+++” by K-pop megastar Mino just dropped, and it’s a fast-paced whip around the same Seoul streets in the movie, complete with all the vibes fans have come to expect from the extravagant artist.

Directed by Moon Hyun-sung, Seoul Vibe follows a group of young, hungry drivers from Sanggye-dong, who are recruited to act as spies for Seoul’s prosecutor during the 1988 Olympics. The characters are a squad of highly talented, alarmingly well-dressed rebels, and the movie is packed with fresh-to-death street style, high-velocity candy paint and late ’80s Seoul scenery that will make you want to travel back in time and hop in someone’s passenger seat.

Of course, a vibe isn’t really a vibe without music. “City+++” provides the perfect lead track to the Seoul Vibe soundtrack, complete with the requisite “Welcome to Seoul City” at the top and lyrics about riding with the top down and keeping it real. The video features scenes from the movie, including glimpses at Mino himself in his debut acting role as Galchi. Mino’s wildly successful solo rap career follows his time in Winner, a popular K-pop group, and in “City+++” he’s joined by old-guard K-pop star Gaeko, who rose to fame in 2004 as one half of the hip-hop pair Dynamic Duo before going solo in 2015.

For Seoul Vibe, Mino and Gaeko create a campy, lively main track that’s perfect for popping the cassette in and taking off at full speed; no thoughts, just vibes. Check it out here:
