Jessica Chastain has won the Screen Actors Guild Award for best female actor in a television movie or limited series.
The star was honored for her performance as country legend Tammy Wynette in Showtime's George & Tammy at the ceremony on Sunday night, which was broadcast live for the first time on Netflix’s YouTube channel.
Accepting the award on stage, Chastain told a story about words of wisdom the late Philip Seymour Hoffman imparted to her as a young actor.
“At the end of the talk, he said, ‘I look forward to working with each of you,’” she recalled. “It really shocked me because it was like he brought it into being and a few years later. It came true and I had the opportunity to do a play with him.”

Chastain said she was offering the anecdote all these years later because of how it “reminds me of how powerful our mind is and that we are what our thoughts create.”
“I just want to tell everyone who might be struggling at home, to all of the actors that I get to meet, keep going, you are one job away. I look forward to working with you," she concluded her speech. "I'll see you on set.”
Chastain was nominated alongside Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout), Emily Blunt (The English), Julia Garner (Inventing Anna) and Niecy Nash-Betts (DAHMER — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story). With an influx of A-list talent and Hollywood heavyweights, the category has become among the most competitive in recent years.
Chastain has been honored at the SAG Awards two times previously for her work in The Help and The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
