There are good friends. There are bad friends. And then there’s the drama going down in Poser, the upcoming series from Lauren Iungerich (On My Block, Awkward).
The new sexy, emotional thriller explores toxic female friendships. As one friend gets everything she’s ever wanted, she enters a psychological game she never could have predicted.
“Girls actually live in the subtext. They covet, compete, and compare,” Iungerich says. “They trade in rejection. And yet, love hard and protect harder.” Poser will dig deep into that thorny dynamic with Sadie Stanley (Karate Kid: Legends), Daisy Jelley (How to Have Sex, Geek Girl), and Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek, Black Mirror) alongside cast members Jaime Ray Newman, Joel Oulette, Hubert Smielecki, Sarah Abbott, and more.
Now that the series has started filming in Los Angeles, keep reading to enter Poser’s group chat. You’ll learn more about the twisty plot as well as the full cast and creative team.

Poser centers on two estranged former best friends. When one of them is given a chance to live the life she’s long coveted, and maybe get answers as to why they fell out years ago, she finds herself in a psychological game of revenge, betrayal, and heartbreak — ultimately altering their lives, and the lives of those around them, forever.
Iungerich was inspired by her own experiences. “The idea of this show has been brewing in my brain for years. It came from a desire to examine why I was still fascinated with a childhood friend after four decades,” she says. “I had to acknowledge that as much as I loved my friend, that there were moments in our friendship that I deeply envied and resented her, too. Because there is something universal about wanting to be someone else. That if we were suddenly someone else, our lives and our problems would magically disappear. And this is why female friendship is so complex and intense.”
As Iungerich worked on Poser, she started to see her history reflected in the next generation of women. “As I wrote the first draft of what this show has become, something strange was simultaneously happening — my daughter was being dumped by her best friend. There I was — writing art imitating my life and watching her life imitating the art I was writing,” she explains. “For this reason, Poser is my most personal series to date. It’s a story I needed to tell. It’s a story my daughter needs to see. It’s a love letter to her. For her to know that while girls can be each other’s worst enemies, they can also be each other’s greatest saviors.”
Fans of Iungerich’s previous series will recognize a few faces in the Poser cast: Nikki DeLoach, Julio Macias, and Ciara Riley Wilson. DeLoach starred in Awkward. as Lacey Hamilton, the lovably complicated mom of protagonist Jenna Hamilton (Ashley Rickards). Macias played Oscar “Spooky” Diaz, a reformed gang leader with a heart of gold, in all four seasons of the teen drama On My Block. And Wilson starred in the On My Block spin-off, Freeridge, as Demi, the spiritual center of the comedy’s friend group.
Eight one-hour episodes are on the way.
As part of her deal with Netflix, Iungerich (for Crazy Cat Lady Entertainment) is showrunner, writer, and executive producer of Poser. Jamie Dooner is also an executive producer for Crazy Cat Lady Entertainment.
