This week’s new releases are coming in hot, both literally and figuratively. From romance to reality TV, you might need to take a breather or two after watching these titles. To start, White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch isn’t your typical trip down memory lane. The new documentary explores the darker side of the once iconic brand, critically looking at how the company built a business model on exclusionary practices. For something on the sweeter side, the queer YA series Heartstopper is guaranteed to tug at your heartstrings. There’s young love, an upbeat soundtrack and plenty of queer kisses to gush over. Lastly, the ladies of The Oppenheim Group are back for Selling Sunset Season 5. With loads of drama spilling over from last season, you know the tension is on fire. For the full list of this week’s latest titles, keep scrolling.

White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch - New Releases That’ll Keep Your Heart Rate Up

4/19 White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch What it is: For some, the Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce perfume brings back traces of nostalgia; for others, it might trigger flashbacks. In the ’90s and ’00s, the clothing brand was regarded as a status symbol among teens. Decades later, the store is barely recognizable. This new documentary explores how discriminatory hiring practices, exclusionary marketing and lawsuits plagued the company’s “all-American” image, ultimately leading to its demise.

Why you should watch it: Whether you were one of the brave souls that ventured into the dark abyss of A&F or observed the cool kids wrap their textbooks in shirtless shopping bags, there’s no denying the cultural impact the company once had. In White Hot, the documentary strips back the aspirational facade of the brand through interviews with former employees, executives and models. It’s an in-depth and disturbing look into how exclusivity was normalized as a marketing tool.

Russian Doll, Season 2 - New Releases That’ll Keep Your Heart Rate Up

4/20 Russian Doll, Season 2  What it is: Nadia Vulvokov (Natasha Lyonne) keeps reliving her 36th birthday over and over again — including her death. After meeting Alan (Charlie Barnett), who’s also experiencing the same time loop, the two of them realize their inevitable deaths are somehow linked. In Season 2, Nadia and Alan heal past wounds and learn even more about how time impacts reality, but in the most unexpected way.

Why you should watch it: Thursday, what a concept. Nadia and Alan finally break out of their continuous time loop in Season 2, but at what cost? After getting onto the 6 train in Manhattan, they find themselves transported to four years earlier. What initially seems like an era-expanding adventure quickly turns out to be more than Nadia and Alan bargained for. With an even more complicated existential journey ahead, they must search for a way out before it’s too late. This newest season welcomes new cast members, including Annie Murphy, Carolyn Michelle Smith and Sharlto Copley.

Heartstopper - New Releases That’ll Keep Your Heart Rate Up

4/22 Heartstopper  What it is: Based on the YA graphic novels of the same name by Alice Oseman, the British coming-of-age series follows the young romance of teenagers Charlie and Nick. After becoming friends in class, Nick, who’s openly gay, grows a crush on Charlie, who’s still closeted. As they navigate young love and academics, the two boys help one another grow into themselves.

Why you should watch it: As a queer adult, there’s something cathartic and nostalgic about watching young LGBTQIA+ people fall in love on screen. You’re reminded of what it was like to secretly crush on someone as a teen, but never getting the high school romance because you were in the closet. In Heartstopper, queer viewers of all ages finally get that love story they always yearned for. From their first kiss at a party to sharing an umbrella in the rain, all the slow-burn moments between Charlie and Nick will make you feel like a young hopeless romantic all over again (minus the awkward parts). All of these scenes are enhanced by the show’s synth-infused soundtrack, resembling the sound of a beating heart, which includes tracks from Chvrches, Shura, Chairlift and more.

Selling Sunset, Season 5 - New Releases That’ll Keep Your Heart Rate Up

Selling Sunset, Season 5  What it is: The agents of LA’s top luxury real estate brokerage are back for a fifth season. The Oppenheim Group agents take on even larger listings, fan out old rivalries and welcome a brand new face to the office. With a new realtor taking over a desk, that also means saying goodbye to those who aren’t stepping up to the plate.

Why you should watch it: Selling Sunset producer Adam DiVello has seen his fair share of friendship breakups over the years. The famous “You know what you did!” scene between Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag in The Hills, also produced by DiVello, continues to live on through pop culture references 15 years later. During the Selling Sunset Season 4 finale, viewers saw a similar fallout go down at an O Group work party between ex-BFFs Christine and Mary. In the newest season, the tension doesn’t settle. With Christine still feuding with everyone else, newcomer Chelsea stepping into the brokerage and Chrishell and Jason’s relationship unfolding after splitting in February, the drama is through the roof (and infinity pool).
