It’s been nearly seven years since we last stepped into a Nancy Meyers kitchen with The Intern. Now, the wait is over. The cinematic auteur, whose blend of aspirational aesthetics and complicated heroines has become as recognizable as Martin Scorsese’s tracking shots, will write, direct and produce a new feature film for Netflix.
The woman behind The Parent Trap, It’s Complicated, Something’s Gotta Give and The Holiday, Meyers made a brief return behind the camera in 2020 to release Father of the Bride Part 3(ish), a short sequel to the two films she co-wrote with Charles Shyer, on Netflix social channels. The 26-minute reunion brought back the Banks family — with some new additions (hey there, Robert De Niro, Florence Pugh and Ben Platt) — to raise money for World Central Kitchen. Plot and cast details for Meyers’ latest project have yet to be released, but you’d better believe we’ll keep you updated; cross our hearts and swear on Meryl Streep’s chocolate croissants. In the meantime, cue the French chansons — Meyers hive, we ride!
