Hanni and Daniel
Upon hearing that Hanni is a real estate agent, Daniel tells her, “Oh my God, red flag,” a joke that cracks Hanni up. “Laughing is the most important thing for me,” she says. Daniel’s humor may be what locked Hanni in, but it becomes clear over their blind dates that they’re able to open up and sync on life’s more serious topics, too. They become the first couple to get engaged. Navigating real-life challenges while living together tests Hanni and Daniel’s bond like never before. Ultimately, the two make it to the altar, and in his vows Daniel references what first drew him to her. “Your laugh is worth your weight in gold,” he says. “I could distinguish it [from] a million other laughs.” In the end, laughs turn to tears after Hanni decides they haven’t spent enough time together for her to say “I do.”

Alina and Ilias
An immediate rapport is established between these singles. Both have a fear of flying, both come from a family of entrepreneurs, and Alina (who considers herself spiritual) correctly guesses Ilias’ sign based on first impressions (he’s a Gemini). “I think the stars are aligned,” she says. Ilias proposes to Alina when she accepts him wholly, even after he comes clean about his unfaithful past and assures her he’s learned from his mistakes. Once the couple leaves the pods, their relationship encounters some turbulence from Ilias’ lingering feelings for Hanni. After rebuilding trust, however, Alina again feels confident in their future together. On their wedding day, Ilias pushes through his tendency to overthink everything and commits to Alina. “I’ve never been more sure about making the right decision,” he says before the couple ties the knot. 

Jen and Marcel
Both singles value many of the same things in life: intentionality, spirituality, and self-care. It’s their mutual love for meditation and working out that kicks off what soon blossoms into a deeper, emotional bond. Jen, who tells Marcel he has a soothing voice, says, “I felt really grounded right away.” The couple get engaged a few dates later. After meeting face-to-face, however, Jen feels Marcel has stopped using that voice she fell in love with. “The way we are communicating now is a disaster,” she says. “He’s sitting right in front of me, but I miss him, because he’s just not the same person I got to know in the pods.” Their struggle to connect leads her to give back the ring and break things off.

Shella and Pascal
Shella, who admits to putting up walls with her former romantic partners, is immediately at ease with Pascal. The two bond over their love of travel — and Shella, who is of African descent, is especially smitten that Pascal has spent time in several African countries. When Shella tells Pascal she’s looking for more assurance from him before moving forward, he writes her a moving letter that overwhelms her. Shella accepts his proposal. Sadly, that assurance dissipates once the engaged couple gets to Crete for their honeymoon. Shella worries that their relationship isn’t progressing fast enough, and before heading back to the real world, Pascal decides they don’t have enough of a spark to pursue something serious.

Shila and Tolga
Tolga may be unapologetic about being a Casanova, but Shila, who is extremely self-assured and confident, may be the woman that gets him to settle down. “We have so many similarities that I feel like my male self is sitting opposite me,” she says. As tough as Shila is, she also reveals a softer, more vulnerable side to Tolga which deepens their bond. The pair get hitched after Tolga calls it off with Hannah, his other connection. While honeymooning, Tolga begins second-guessing his decision to get engaged, which leads to an intense poolside conversation with Shila. The romantic bond the couple forged in the pods buckles under the pressure of a looming wedding, and they agree to move forward as just friends.

Sally and Medina

In the past, Medina and Sally both resisted opening up to love, but they connect in the pods over their love of birthdays and strong faith. They finally give in when they exchange gifts that surprisingly feature the same meaningful Bible verse. This “sign from God,” as Sally calls it, pushes them to take the next step. At the reveal, however, Medina’s laughter leaves Sally feeling insecure, and she exits alone. While they don’t make it to the honeymoon, the two reunite to talk through their issues and reunite as a couple. After some time living together, Medina and Sally make it to their wedding day. Ultimately, they don’t get married, but they part on good terms, mutually expressing how much the relationship helped them grow. “Of course I am sad,” Medina says. “But during this experiment, I learned that I’m able to show feelings, that I’m worthy of love and even able to love myself, and that it’s okay to accept my vulnerable side.”
