The Heartstopper gang just got a little bigger. Two brand-new characters — penned by artist, writer and series creator Alice Oseman — will join Tao, Elle, Tara and the rest of the squad for the ride as Charlie and Nick’s love story plays out on-screen.
According to his character bio, Isaac (Tobie Donovan) is a friend of Charlie’s and a student in his 10th year who only opens up around his closest friends. Imogen (Rhea Norwood), meanwhile, is a friend of Nick’s and a student in her 11th year, and she’s harboring a secret crush on one of her classmates.

The eight-episode story, out April 22, is based on Oseman’s webcomic turned graphic novel series of the same title. At the center of the series is bighearted, neurotic Charlie (Joe Locke), a 10th-year student who forms an unlikely bond with rugby star Nick (Kit Connor) when they’re paired together in class. As they start spending more time together, Charlie and Nick begin to realize their friendship might be a little more.
Just like in the comics, Heartstopper also focuses on the characters in Nick and Charlie’s orbit: resident cute couple Tara (Corinna Brown) and Darcy (Kizzy Edgell), Charlie’s longtime best friend Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney), a new classmate of Tara and Darcy’s. Imogen and Isaac will join the crew as they navigate changing friend group dynamics, bullying, school and — of course — thrilling, devastating crushes.

Get your first look at the Osemanverse newcomers above, and prepare your heart accordingly: You’ll meet the whole gang when Heartstopper premieres on April 22.
