He said he’d be back — and he’s brought his dysfunctional team of intelligence operatives with him. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to FUBAR Season 2 as Luke Brunner, a CIA operative who was on the verge of retirement until he was brought back to work on an explosive case — only to learn that his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) is also in the CIA. At the end of Season 1, Luke and his family — his literal family and his work family — had their covers blown, and at the start of the new season, they’ve had to bunker together in hiding.
Of course, all those spies and personalities can’t stay contained under one roof for long. Schwarzenegger tells Tudum, “It doesn’t bode well for anybody because now we are too close together, and we are getting on each other’s nerves and the fights start … But in the meantime, while we have the infighting, the craziness, and also the comedy at the same time, we have challenges outside.”
When Luke and the team bust out of the safe house, we’re off on another globe-trotting mission that brings us to new enemies, more action, and more hilarious moments. “My team from Season 1 became even more of a family,” says Schwarzenegger. A former East German spy who has a romantic history with Luke Brunner, Greta has been laying low since faking her death in 1989. However, she’s still an absolute force to be reckoned with. She works for Dante Cress, a mysterious individual determined to cause chaos by bringing down the US power grid. Bankrolled by him, she has seemingly limitless resources while using her own know-how to repeatedly outthink the CIA. Her romantic past with Luke potentially compromises him, since their chemistry is as strong as ever — even as they’re on opposite sides.
Throughout the season, the name on everyone’s lips is “Greta” — which didn’t go unnoticed by Moss. “I don’t know if I’ve ever played a character that other characters talk about so much,” she tells Tudum. “It’s interesting how just talking about her when I was watching it just makes her even more alive, even if I’m not on-screen.”
There’s a lot to talk about — Luke and Greta were instrumental in shaping major world events in the 1980s. Schwarzenegger says, “We know right away — this is one of, if not the, most powerful and dangerous spies in the world.”

A former MI6 agent who became a mercenary for Greta, Theodore Chips is initially brought into the fold of Luke’s CIA team as a captive. He works to redeem his mistakes and becomes one of the good guys, largely because he’s driven by the love at first sight he experiences for Emma. But can anyone really trust him?

Schwarzenegger plays a veteran CIA operative who, up until recently, was on the verge of retirement. Despite his intimidating exterior, he has a soft spot for his family, especially his daughter Emma. As he navigates a dangerous mission to stop a terrorist plot, he grapples with his feelings for Greta, an old flame, and his rekindled relationship with Tally. Despite the chaos, he remains determined to protect his family and country.
“[This is] what makes FUBAR, like True Lies, so interesting because there’s the family life, home life, but there is also the outside life,” explains Schwarzenegger. “How do you make both of those work? This is what my character, and I would say all of the characters, go through.”
The Terminator, Conan the Barbarian, Kindergarten Cop, Last Action Hero

Barry is the tech-savvy member of the team, responsible for decoding and analyzing critical information. He’s a lovable man-child and proud nerd who has worked closely with Luke for the past 20-plus years. He also has a tumultuous, to say the least, relationship with Tina.
“Listen, I fell in love with the wrong girl many times,” Carter tells Tudum, relating to his character. “So it felt very like I had to go down some unhealed wounds to explore Barry, and it was a good time. I think we all can relate to not necessarily making the best choices or overlooking the bad qualities because the good qualities stand out so strong.”

Fortune Feimster as Roo (left).
Roo, a smart and sarcastic CIA officer, is fiercely loyal to her friends and colleagues and is always ready to jump into action. This season, Roo considers a potential promotion to regional director, which was an exciting step forward in Feimster’s eyes. “It just felt like a lot of growth for the character, and that’s what you want to see — this something to work with, movement there. It gave me a lot to do as an actor.”
Sweet & Salty, Good Fortune, The Mindy Project

Aldon is a highly capable CIA officer and a world-class wiseass with a heart of gold. He’s dedicated to the mission and willing to put himself in danger to protect others. This season, Aldon reveals a more introspective side, contemplating his feelings for Emma and his desire for meaningful relationships — including with a pig named Hamsteak.
“I think having a pig this season really helped amplify Aldon’s tenderness,” says Van Winkle. “I really enjoyed the ride that Aldon got to go on this year, and I think adding this swine of a best friend was such a great one-two punch for me. I really enjoyed my journey learning how to love this pig and learning about self-sacrifice and unconditional love and how to care for something else.”

Donnie is Tally’s former boyfriend. He’s struggling — to put it mildly — with both being in witness protection and the challenges of living in the safe housewith his ex-girlfriend and her family.
Schwarzenegger greatly appreciates Buckley’s performance of Donnie’s crashouts. “He's going absolutely nuts,” says Schwarzenegger. “The laughter that those kind of scenes created was just spectacular.”
The Office, Distancing Socially, The After Party

Tally is Emma’s mom and Luke’s former wife — then ex-wife — and now girlfriend. She’s adjusting to the complexities of life in witness protection and the dangers that come with being associated with the CIA. Tally is supportive of Luke and Emma, but struggles with the constant threat to their safety. She understandably has concerns about Luke’s past with Greta.
