Just when our Squid Game players thought they’d escaped their gauntlet, they’ve found themselves at the center of another enormous challenge: Emmy Awards season. The nominations were announced today by two stars of the upcoming Netflix series Blockbuster, J.B. Smoove and Melissa Fumero, and Hwang Dong-hyuk’s hit Korean drama scored 14 nominations, including outstanding drama series and acting nominations for Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Jung Ho-yeon and Oh Young-soo. The series, recently renewed for a second season, makes history as the first non-English-language drama ever nominated for the Television Academy’s biggest honor.

Squid Game wasn’t the only Netflix series to make an Emmy splash; Ozark and Stranger Things also made it into outstanding drama series — and both received 13 noms overall. (Stranger Things has amassed 51 nominations over its run, while Ozark has raked in 45.) Inventing Anna was nominated in outstanding limited or anthology series, and Julia Garner scored double nominations for Inventing Anna and Ozark. Margaret Qualley also earned a nod for her work as the lead actress in Maid.

The final season of the long-running crime thriller Ozark also got some love elsewhere, with Laura Linney nominated for outstanding lead actress and Jason Bateman pulling double duty in outstanding lead actor and outstanding directing for a drama series.
On the reality side, Nailed It! received its third straight nomination for outstanding competition program; Nicole Byer was also nominated for outstanding reality host, alongside the Fab Five of Queer Eye. The Selling Sunset crew made it into outstanding unstructured reality program, and former President Barack Obama snuck into the best narrator category for his work on Our Great National Parks. Will our 44th president be halfway to an EGOT in a few months?
You’ll have to tune in Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST to find out. In the meantime, check out a list of Netflix Emmy nominees in some of the biggest categories:
