Ahead of The Umbrella Academy’s Season 3 debut, actor Elliot Page has shared an important announcement about their character.
Moving forward in the series, Page’s character will be known as Viktor Hargreeves, in reflection of the actor’s own journey. In a post on Instagram, Page reintroduced the world to Number Seven, sharing that their character will transition in the upcoming season.
Page came out as transgender in December 2020 in a social media post introducing himself as Elliot and sharing that their pronouns are he/they. “I feel lucky to be writing this,” Page said at the time. “To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society.”
The Umbrella Academy also stars Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Ritu Arya, Justin Cornwell, Justin H. Min, Britne Oldford, Genesis Rodriguez and Jake Epstein, and follows the Hargreeves siblings, a group of superheroes racing against time to stop an imminent global apocalypse. The first two seasons are currently streaming, and Season 3 will make its debut on June 22.
