Netflix Sports has signed a major free agent heading into the new year.
Acclaimed ESPN SportsCenter anchor and WNBA host Elle Duncan has joined Netflix as an on-air host across sports and live events. Duncan — who signed a multiyear deal — will make her Netflix debut on Jan. 23 on Skyscraper Live, the two-hour global event where free solo climber Alex Honnold will attempt to scale Taipei 101, the tallest building in Taiwan.
“Joining Netflix feels like being invited to an already legendary party and somehow getting handed the aux cord,” Duncan says. “For a lifelong utility player, a multisport assignment is a full-circle moment, and being trusted with something this one-of-a-kind feels incredibly special and surreal. I’m bringing boundless energy, storytelling, and bad puns no one asked for but will be subjected to anyway. Also, I was told this fast-tracks my kids to meet the KPop Demon Hunters, so … win-win.”

Since 2016, Duncan has been a mainstay at ESPN, where she hosted SportsCenter and held key roles across college and professional basketball, including leading College GameDay and WNBA Countdown broadcasts.
“Elle Duncan’s proven ability to move seamlessly between hard-hitting sports analysis and warm, personality-driven cultural hosting makes her a perfect fit at Netflix,” adds Gabe Spitzer, Vice President, Sports, Netflix. “She immediately adds credibility and familiar star power to our global programming slate.”
After historic success with live sports events — such as NFL Christmas Gameday and record-breaking boxing matches Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson and Taylor vs. Serrano 3 — Netflix is expanding its offerings with a new Major League Baseball partnership.
Beginning in 2026, Netflix will stream multiple live MLB events a year, making a major expansion into the sport. From 2026 to 2028, Netflix will kick off the MLB season with a single game on Opening Night, the evening prior to a full slate of traditional Opening Day matchups. Netflix will also air the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, the most-watched skills competition in sports, the day before the MLB All-Star Game, as well as an additional special event game each year, starting with MLB at Field of Dreams in 2026.
