Have you ever wanted to delete your bad ex from your brain so you never have to think about them again? That’s the premise of the Indian film CTRL, which follows a young social media star whose heartache inspires her to remove every shred of online evidence of her cheating ex. But the app she uses to erase all trace of him is much more dangerous than she realizes. From director Vikramaditya Motwane (Sacred Games), the digital thriller CTRL stars Ananya Panday and Vihaan Samat.
“With the amount of time we spend on our devices, screen time is now redefined as screen life,” Motwane told Netflix. “The question is, are we actually in control of all the digital extensions of our life, or are we being controlled? That’s the [question] CTRL tries to explore.”

Nella (Panday) and Joe (Samat) are the perfect couple. The pair met in college and have been together ever since — sharing nearly every waking moment together. They’re also influencers, vlogging their every move, plugging products on social media, and capturing every blissful moment of their lives for their followers. Nella even records a surprise visit to Joe for their fifth anniversary … except, when she gets there, Joe’s kissing someone else — and it’s all being live streamed on social media.
From then on, enraged Nella becomes determined to remove Joe from her life. Luckily, she’s found an AI assistant app, CTRL. Soon, Joe will be deleted from hundreds of thousands of Nella’s videos and photos. Despite her heartbreak, with the help of CTRL, Nella’s now on the mend. She’s even getting millions of new followers on her own. But unbeknownst to Nella, CTRL is doing way, way more than just removing pixels from soured memories. Can she decode the app’s ulterior motive before it’s too late?

No, it’s an original screenplay.
