Úrsula Corberó as Rosa in ‘Burning Body’
Rosa’s husband, Pedro, hasn’t returned home. The two are police officers for the Barcelona Urban Guard, and it seems Pedro doesn’t have the best track record of staying put. Rosa’s father assumes Pedro might have skipped out on their relationship — it’s been a bit rocky, and she’s involved in a nasty custody dispute with her ex, Javi, over their young daughter, Sofía. But then a charred car is found in Barcelona’s Foix reservoir — with Pedro’s remains inside. Soon Rosa and her lover, fellow police officer Alberto López, become integral to the case in ways they never expect. What unfolds is a murder mystery that’s laden with illicit affairs, dangerous relationships, and fatal consequences.

Yes, it’s inspired by real events referred to as “el Crimen de la Guardia Urbana,” or the crime of the Urban Guard, which caused a media frenzy in Spain beginning in 2017. The story revolves around the 2017 murder of Guardia officer Pedro Rodríguez and the 2020 trial involving Rodríguez’s partner, Rosa Peral, and her lover at the time, Albert López. Both were Rodríguez’s fellow officers.
The series takes place in Barcelona.
