The animated series Blood of Zeus left our hero on a cliff-hanger at the end of Season 1. And it turns out, Heron’s life mission is only just beginning. The story continues when Season 2 returns next year.
At the climax of Season 1, Heron (Derek Phillips) learned that the demon leader Seraphim (Elias Toufexis) is his twin brother. After Heron kills him, Seraphim descends to the underworld, where Hades (Fred Tatasciore) offers to help him in exchange for his loyalty. In the clip above, Heron grapples with his last moments with Seraphim, as well as his own moral conflict, as he tells Alexia (Jessica Henwick), “Seraphim might have been a monster, but he was right about one thing. The Gods are more flawed than we are — why should we listen to them?”
Is Blood of Zeus based on a true story?
Series creators Vlas and Charles Parlapanides based Blood of Zeus loosely on ancient Greek mythology, and its flawed, very human-like gods. Heron is a newly invented figure inspired by the many children that the Greek God Zeus sired with humans, which led to the wrath of his wife Hera.
What happens in Blood of Zeus?
The series follows Heron, a young man living in ancient Greece. He learns from his mother Electra (Mamie Gummer) that he is a son of Zeus (Jason O’Mara), the Greek God of sky and thunder; and discovers his life purpose is to save the world from a demonic army. But the demons aren’t Heron’s only obstacle — Zeus’s wife, Hera (Claudia Christian) learns of his existence and vows revenge. She teams up with Heron’s brother, the demon leader Seraphim, though Seraphim is suspicious of her motives. Meanwhile, a conflict between humans, Gods, and demons takes hold in Olympus, as Heron’s demigod powers are awakened.
