How does that old saying go — all’s fair in love and wine? OK, so that’s not actually it, but “love and war” doesn’t really apply to A Perfect Pairing, a romance that’s all about taking chances, falling in love, and, yes, drinking wine. The film follows Lola (Victoria Justice), a young professional wine importer who, after years of being taken advantage of at her job, decides to strike out on her own. Her first big swing: booking a ticket to Australia to visit Vaughn Family Wines in the hopes of landing her first major solo contract. Of course, nothing is ever that easy. Lola ends up volunteering to work on the Vaughn family sheep farm in order to prove herself, landing her right in the path of Max (Adam Demos), the surly, slightly mysterious man in charge. He doesn’t think Lola has what it takes to survive two weeks working on the farm, and she’s determined to prove him wrong. Add some wine and a stellar cast, and you’ve got A Perfect Pairing.

Lola knows everything about wine, especially how to sell it. But when a setback at work causes her to quit and start her own wine import business, she finds herself in brand-new territory: Australia to be exact. A trip to visit Hazel Vaughn, the owner of Vaughn Family Wines, becomes a two-week crash course in sheep farming. But learning how to wrangle the sheep is nothing compared to charming her moody supervisor, Max.
Lola is played by Victoria Justice, a longtime actor who shot to stardom when she was still a teenager, playing Lola Martinez in Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101. She went on to lead her own Nickelodeon sitcom, Victorious, for three years and has been steadily working ever since. When she’s not starring in movies, like Afterlife of the Party, she’s releasing original music.

Max is less than thrilled when he’s tasked with babysitting Lola and showing her the ropes on the farm. He’s a busy man, and he doesn’t have time to teach a city girl how to rough it. And, as someone who prefers to go it alone, he’s skeptical of Lola’s enthusiastic kindness. But he can’t help but be drawn to her.
Max is played by Australian actor Adam Demos. He got his big break in Hollywood playing August Walker on UnREAL and has since become a certified Netflix heartthrob thanks to Sex/Life, in which he stars opposite Sarah Shahi.

Hazel Vaughn is dedicated to upholding her family legacy, both with her farm and with her new business, Vaughn Family Wines, so she’s skeptical of Lola’s newly established import business. But lady boss respects lady boss, so she decides to give Lola a shot on the farm in exchange for a pitch meeting.
Samantha Cain, who plays Hazel, is a native Australian who has made a career acting on Australian TV shows, including the infamous soap Home and Away. Most recently, she appeared on Five Bedrooms, a series about adult singles.

Audra is Lola’s BFF at work until she backstabs Lola by stealing one of her ideas and passing it off as her own. When the betrayal inspires Lola to quit, Audra finds herself without an ally, stuck dealing with a petulant boss alone.
Audra is played by Lucy Durack, another Australian actor, who has spent decades on stage and in front of the camera. She got her first on-screen credit with a guest appearance in the medical drama All Saints in 2005 and has been working consistently ever since. She’s also a musical theater star, having played Glinda for Australia’s production of Wicked. And during the pandemic, she co-wrote and starred in a web series called Love in Lockdown.

Calder is the aforementioned bad-tempered boss that Lola and Audra report to. He’s all talk and little action, which means he relies on the people around him to pick up the slack — without giving them any recognition. He has no loyalty to Lola when she tells him about Audra stealing her idea, which causes Lola to quit on the spot.
Craig Horner has been acting professionally for about 20 years, starting with a role on the Australian superhero show Cybergirl. He’s best known for appearing in H2O: Just Add Water and playing the lead role in the fantasy action series Legend of the Seeker. He’s currently starring in Rock Island Mysteries.

Lola takes a huge risk by quitting her steady job and deciding to launch her own company, but her dad, Carlos, is nothing but encouraging. Does a part of him wish that she would focus less on work and more on finding someone to share her life with? Sure, but he and his book club are more than happy to cheer her on, no matter what she wants to do.
Carlos is played by Antonio Alvarez, a prolific voice actor who has leant his skills to countless video games — including Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Cyberpunk 2077 and Call of Duty: Mobile, to name a few.
