Stuck in a rut, Josephine leaves San Francisco and her tech job for a pageant in Taipei, where she meets Nian-nian, who's equally restless about life.

Josephine wakes up in Nian-nian's flat. Nian-nian heads to San Francisco to surprise her significant other, but keeps bumping into renowned chef Ryan.

Nian-nian arrives at Wang Wei-sheng's doorstep and faces a shocking new reality. Back in Taipei, Jo bonds with her grandma and reminisces about her dad.

Nian-nian's departure for Taiwan looms, and Ryan encourages her to stay. Jo tries to ward off her helicopter mom's attempts to lure her back to the U.S.

Back in the year 2008, Nian-nian falls ill when her dad goes to see her mom in the U.S., and Jo learns the truth about her father's past.

Tian-ming keeps his liaison with Jo under wraps. Nian-nian flies back home to see her father in the hospital -- without telling Ryan.

Jo considers staying in Taiwan to fulfill her father's wishes. Nian-nian struggles to convince her dad to accept Western medicine and undergo surgery.

Tian-ming presents his business proposal for Dadaocheng and asks Jo to live with him. Nian-nian's dad has concerns about her relationship with Ryan.

Torn between Ryan and her obligations to her dad, Nian-nian is reluctant to return to San Francisco. Ryan decides to invest in Tian-ming's venture.

Ryan's ex-wife, Lisa, arrives in Taiwan. Tian-ming reckons with a friend's betrayal and ends up in major financial trouble.
