[bright music playing]
man: Madam. Welcome to the writers’ retreat.
Katherine: You think if I just took the smallest room, I could skip all the group activities? I just need a quiet place to work.
man 2: Oh, hey.
[music building]
Owen: I’m Owen.
Katherine: Katherine. Are you having a great trip?
Owen: It’s fine, I guess.
woman: Do you write fiction or nonfiction?
Owen: Neither. I’m just here with my girlfriend.
woman 2: He only reads Sports Illustrated.
[writers groan]
[gulls calling]
Owen: Why’d you fly thousands of miles?
Katherine: I’m finishing a book.
Owen: How’s it going?
[music fades]
Katherine: Fine, I guess.
[somber music playing]
Owen: I don’t know who you are here.
woman 2: Are you threatened by this?
Owen: Are you serious?
[laughs]
Owen: How come you can’t finish your book at home?
Katherine: Long story.
Owen: I’ve got time.
Katherine: I think the point of travel is to show us the tiny place we occupy in the world.
Owen: How does your guy deal with all this?
Katherine: Who said I have a guy?
Owen: Wikipedia.
Katherine: Oh, right, of course.
[both laugh]
[energetic music playing]
Katherine: You followed me yesterday.
Owen: I just wanted to make sure you were safe.
Katherine: Am I?
[laughs]
man 3: When you’re stuck in life, you need to do something irrevocable.
[sensual music playing]
Katherine: [softly] Careful there.
[drum sound effect plays]
