Uglies: Joey King Takes You Behind the Scenes of Her ‘Dream Film’

In Uglies, Joey King plays Tally Youngblood, a young woman whose dystopian society requires that she undergo plastic surgery at age 16 in order to become a Pretty. Born a so-called Ugly, Tally starts to question the world around her with the help of some new friends. Off-screen, the cast bonded over the experience of making this  film, which King has been dreaming of since she was just 11 years old.

“It was just kind of like magic when we all just met,” Brianne Tju, who plays Shay, told Netflix. That chemistry really shows on the screen, and I think it goes to show how passionate we all are about this movie.” Chase Stokes, who plays Tally’s childhood bestie Peris, agrees. “Now I have some new lifelong friends,” he said. Watch the video above to find out the name of their group chat with King, and go behind the scenes of Uglies with the cast.
