Most teens beg their parents for a car for their junior year of high school. But Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart), the beloved younger sister and matchmaker in To All the Boys, isn’t like most people. Instead of a car, Kitty wants to spend her junior year in South Korea just like her mom — and just like her boyfriend, Dae (Minyeong Choi).
If you’re anything like Kitty — intent on jumping to the biggest, best moments now, rather than later — you’re in luck. While the rom-com series premieres on May 18, you can watch the first seven minutes of XO, Kitty right this very moment.
In case it’s been a while since you last watched TAtB, don’t worry, because this clip allows you to get reacquainted with Kitty. She’s now 16 and floating around at the center of pool parties, rather than asking her big sis Lara Jean (Lana Condor) what it’s like to be a teenager. Yet, one thing is missing from Kitty’s life: Dae, who’s thousands of miles away attending KISS, the Korean Independent School of Seoul.

Eager to get closer to Dae — and find out more about the mother she doesn’t really remember — Kitty applies to and is accepted at the school, kicking off “Operation KISS.” Thanks to Kitty’s determination (and a PowerPoint presentation), her dad Dan (John Corbett) and stepmom Trina (Sarayu Blue) agree to let the youngest Song Covey sister go halfway around the world to reunite with Dae and connect to her mom’s memory.
Filming that scene, Cathcart tells Tudum, was “very emotional and nostalgic. I love Sarayu so much and she was like, ‘I’m literally going to tear up. It’s so weird to see you in the same living room. But now in such a different space in Kitty’s life.’ ”
Kitty isn’t just in an emotionally different space, she’s also in a literal one as she jets off to Seoul to settle in at KISS, get her first lowercase kiss, make unforgettable friends and start a journey of self-discovery that challenges every assumption she has about love.
“Kitty’s very confident in herself. She feels like she knows the answer to everything,” Cathcart says. “In XO, Kitty, we’re seeing her have things shift around her in ways that they never have before.”
Watch Kitty’s adventure unfold when XO, Kitty premieres on May 18.
