World War I rages on in the first trailer for the Valiant Hearts: Coming Home video game.
On Thursday, Netflix and Ubisoft unveiled a first look — and the full title — for the upcoming sequel to the BAFTA Games Award–winning survival game Valiant Hearts: The Great War. Developed by Ubisoft and directed by the original core team, Valiant Hearts: Coming Home is a mobile game that will live exclusively on Netflix when it debuts in January 2023.

For those who haven’t done their tours in the trenches, 2014’s Valiant Hearts was unlike most war-set games. Rather than focusing on combat, the game is more puzzle-based. It follows four characters as they face the horrors of war alongside their companion dog, Walt, and help a young German soldier find his love. The story also revisits historical battles at the Somme and Marne, which is definitely a treat for European history buffs.
Coming Home is set in 1917, the penultimate year of World War I, and centers on two brothers fighting “to survive the trenches alongside other valiant hearts desperate to find their way home,” according to the trailer, which you can watch above.
This isn’t the only Ubisoft title coming to Netflix in the new year. Mighty Quest and Assassin’s Creed mobile games are also in the works and will be available soon.
