It’s Groundhog Day, but every night ends in death. That’s the premise of Until Dawn, the horror movie based on the video game of the same name. From David F. Sandberg, the director of Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation, the film follows a woman and her friends as they visit the area where her sister vanished. While there, the night repeats again and again, and the crew is killed over and over — unless they can make it to morning. The film from PlayStation Studios stars Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, and Odessa A’zion.

One year ago, Melanie (Mitchell) went missing. She was last seen outside of a gas station in a video message to her sister, Clover (Rubin). Now Clover and her friends Max (Cimino), Abe (Cameli), Nina (A’zion), and Megan (Yoo) have taken a road trip to Mel’s last whereabouts: a place called Glore Valley, where disappearances are a frequent occurrence. On their way, the group gets caught in a downpour, leading them to a seemingly abandoned visitor center … where they’re promptly murdered. But not for good, no. Each night, they’re struck by a different killer and, as soon as they all die, the night starts over again. Stuck in a time loop, they must piece together clues that’ll break the cycle and unveal the mystery of Mel’s disappearance — all while staying alive until sunlight hits.
The movie Until Dawn is based on the 2015 PlayStation video game of the same name. In the game, players make choices for a group of eight characters that, depending on the decisions made, lead to life-or-death situations.

The film takes place in a fictional rural area called Glore Valley.
